St. Joseph of Cupertino

My Art is a form of prayer. I need the Flying Friar's intercession! He is the patron of Students and Exams! Exams are on the way and I feel so underprepared. Please pray for me everybody! St. Joseph of Cupertino, pray for us! So someone might ask how could this man fly? Well I'll answer that with a quote from someone on why the angels fly: “Angels can fly because they can take themselves lightly. This has been always the instinct of Christendom, and especially the instinct of Christian art. ...The tattered cloak of the beggar will bear him up like the rayed plumes of the angels. But the kings in their heavy gold and the proud in their robes of purple will all of their nature sink downwards, for pride cannot rise to levity or levitation. Pride is the downward drag of all things... One "settles down" into a sort of selfish seriousness; but one has to rise to a [joyful] self-forgetfulness. ... solemnity flows out of men naturally; but laughter is a leap. It is easy to be heavy: hard to be light. Satan fell by the force of gravity.” - G.K. Chesterton So let's be little, forget about ourselves and make a leap of laughter! and one day we will fly with the angels! ^_^ #stjosephofcupertino, #saint, #joseph, #cupertino, #catholic, #saints, #christian, #flying, #fly, #levitate, #levitation, #angel, #angels, #G.K.Chesterton, #Chesterton, #gkchesterton, #laugh, #Laughter, #littleness, #spiritualchildhood, #art, #digitalart

Bells of Peace

Loosely inspired while playing a game Far Cry 4. I like the environment of the high mountains, the Himalayas, and Buddhism and Hindu art references. The bell is cracked like the Liberty Bell, which always reminds me of Leonard Cohen lyric "There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in."

St. John of God with Raphael the Archangel

It's Saint John of God with his good brother Saint Raphael the Archangel! Saint John of God was a Portuguese soldier turned health-care worker in Spain, whose followers later formed the Brothers Hospitallers of Saint John of God, a worldwide Catholic religious institute dedicated to the care of the poor, sick, and those suffering from mental disorders (He himself had a mental breakdown). The Archangel Raphael assisted him in his charitable work even wearing the Habit of St. John of God's order (which is black, yes good angels can wear black lol). This drawing refers to when Saint John of God was helped by Raphael as he carried a sick man ("Whatever you have done to the least of your brethren you have done to me"). Just as John of God lay weakened with the burden of carrying the man and feeling like he could not go on, Raphael appeared and together they shared the load to ensure the man was carried to the hospital. He did this and appeared many other times to help in various ways, once he even appeared with St. John the Apostle. St. John of God and St. Raphael the Archangel, pray for us! and pray especially for those with mental illnesses! ^_^ #stjohn, #stjohnofgod, #saint, #john, #saint, #raphael, #straphael, #angel, #angels, #archangel, #hospital, #brothershospitallersofsaintjohnofgod, #catholic, #christian, #saints

Terror and Peace

This painting started out as a pumpkin design for the Chads Ford, Pennsylvania, Historical Society’s Great Pumpkin Carve, which I have been participating in for the last eleven years. What inspired me to turn the design into a lasting painting was the message, made the design so relevant. It seems the message, which echoes louder and louder as each day passes; the force of heaven and hell are coming out of the dark and into the daylight. The dove in the painting has always been used in mankind’s history to represent hope, peace, and the symbol of the Holy Spirit. The sun in the Bible is called the greater light that governs the day. So, I used dove and the sun to represent the spiritual force of the heavenly kingdom that is seen and unseen in our world. The bat is known as a creature of the night, thought to be a foul creature that people fear. The moon in the Bible is called the lesser light, which was created to govern the night, to give light on to the earth at night. Nighttime is mentioned in the Bible as when men do their evil deeds. Before man invented methods to light the street and people’s homes, people limited their activity at night due to the absence of light. People with superstitious beliefs believe that demonic creature dwelt in the shadow and would attack them if they stepped out of the light. Another historical fact is that bandits would hide in the dark and rob night travelers. People also worked while it was daylight, then would party, get drunk, and sleep around at night. The Bible mentions that those who reject God’s Messiah do not come into the light because their deeds are evil, and they don’t want them to be exposed. So I chose to use the bat and the moon to symbolize the dark evil kingdom of the fallen angels. 168 The reason why the two creatures converge in the middle is because mankind is the centerpiece that both sides are contesting for. Man kind, in the beginning, was created as a holy creation. But just as Satan decided he was going to exalt himself above His Creator, he went to the rest of the angels to get them to join his army to dethrone God. When Satan and his army lost the battle for the heavenly kingdom, He turned his eyes to conquering the earthly realm by tempting mankind, who God had gifted the deed of the earth to. The devil possesses a snake to hold a conversation with man to deceive them into distrusting God and leading them to disobey the commandment from God not to eat from The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. This is how man became the middle battleground. God’s force is battling to restore mankind back to fellowship with God and regain their citizenship in God’s eternal kingdom. Satan and his army of fallen angels work on deceiving, afflicting, and destroying mankind in hope of taking as many as his army can drag to the eternal lake of fire, where God will throw everyone who has denounced Him as their God and king. St Therese of Lisieux

It's little Saint Therese! Whenever we get overwhelmed by the troubles of life, let us remember to be little! Yes, little children of God, dependent on the Father and filled with divine love and trust. Sometimes I feel like I can only do the little things with great love because when you suffer from depression (did you know she suffered from it too?) the little things become great heroic acts for you to do! Yet to the outsider, they say, well he is doing nothing. However it's the greatest thing! I must decrease and Christ must increase. I am nothing and God is the one who is All. So when I do my little nothing things but I do them with and in Christ they become resplendent! In the divine will those little things become divine acts that will shine for us in Heaven! God is so good! ^_^ #Therese, #Saint, #sttherese, #stthereseoflisieux, #little, #littleway, #spiritualchildhood, #divinewill, #depression, #divine, #resplendent, #shiny, #shine, #Heaven, #Catholic, #Christian, #Christianity, #France, #HistoryofFrance,

The Good Shephard. I finally colored it in, added grass and clouds and stuff. Originally inspired by a picture I saw at my grandparents house. Ébredő táj

Ébred a világ. Zöld illatok suhannak a határokon által, hozván a tavasz ígéretét. Parányi szálak búnak elő a barázdákból. Kifeslenek az ágak végin a szűz rügyek. Zsenge füvek parádéja lepi a mezőket. Dombok oldalán virul a galagonya. A telet általvészelt diófák szarvas koronája még kopár. Az új leveleket fakasztó hajtások vágyakozón kavarják az égi vizeket. /Vámos Miklós/ Festette: Ildikó Tuloková Vászon/Akril #art #artist #művészet #festmény

Child Jesus and His Sacred Heart

Child Jesus loves you! Jesus likes every now and then to appear in child form in order to teach us many things and relate with us. To remember to be little and rely on God our father. ^_^ He's levitating and his robe is long so you can't see his lil feet. I made this sketch awhile back but like a lot of things now I decided to color it.
