Been some time since I touched the pencil. It wasn't easy to get back to drawing, since I was also distracted by the internet for some time. Lots of things went through my head, while I was out on a trip. Just drew whatever I felt like drawing, and this came alongside some reflections:
I have been stuck on fixing this character concept for a very long time, trying to box it within a classification. Bird, wyvern, dragon, shadow, whatever- I came to a point today, where I felt that it really doesn't matter anymore. This is that sort of character who can be everything.
I spent the entire afternoon trying to arrange all the little ideas and features, following true to creative intuition. Smashing together many of my previous character designs, this appeared. A masked and unnamed figure (???) with traits from many of my previous works.
An avian / draconic / spiritual shapeshifter has always been something with me all this time, even when I tried to create a sona years back (finding it meaningless). True to its nature, it has few lively features except its eyes and requires a mask to display additional signs of life.
Its clear that this character is basically a symbolic self-expression. It wasn't easy to seperate myself from my introjective tendencies, which easily distorts my concept of this figure (took weeks to untangle). Once the confusions loosen, it reappears with noticeably familiar features.
The scribble above still has some room for rearrangement, just limited by the irreversible nature of pencil drawing. The grey markings were too dark, and the feet might look better staying white. The pale golden underbody markings, were actually a surprise.

On Tuesday I registered for what I believed was a prestigious industry conference through a website recommended in a professional networking group. The page looked flawless with a slick design, a detailed agenda, high profile speakers and polished testimonials. The site explained this as a secure and efficient way to process international payments. Trusting the recommendation I sent the Bitcoin equivalent of $16,300 to the provided wallet address. Minutes later the transaction showed as confirmed on the blockchain and I received an email with a QR code labeled as my official badge. Everything seemed in order.That confidence shattered a few days later when I contacted the legitimate conference organizers. They had no record of me. The email I had been corresponding with did not match theirs and the wallet address was unrelated. The conference was real but I had fallen victim to a sophisticated clone site.With Bitcoin transactions being irreversible I feared my funds were gone. That is when I contacted Salvage Asset Recovery, a cyber forensics firm known for their expertise in tracing and recovering digital assets. They responded within hours and reassured me that while the scam was sophisticated they had recovered funds from similar cases before. I've drawn this doodle during Smida Jazz Festival 2023 that took place in Smida village, Romania. The idea was to write the festival's name and fill the rest of the page with different designs of letter S.
The smudge on the right has been made by a friend of mine while telling a joke. I did not try to prevent it from happening so I very soon felt a shock down my spine because of it.. I still like the overall piece and that's why I uploaded it in the end. :)
It’s messy, but i’m trying to do new things in my sketchbook and not worry about how “good” it looks. Im trying out new hair styles/looks and i’m working on a medium i don’t use a lot anymore (markers). I also decided to start shading using a blue and i think i really like that and will do it more often.
