I'm Leah Lucci: designer, illustrator, wearer of purple, Dodge Neon connoisseur, and world-class bad singer. BE MY PAL.
I specialize in character, graphic design, illustration, portraits.
This fellow is ready for his school portrait! Ballpoint, ink wash, watercolor, and white gel pen in my sketchbook.
I'm not sure how anatomy works, apparently. Ink & white gel pen in my sketchbook.
This vampire is afraid of heights! He was done in ink wash, ballpoint, and white gel pen in my sketchbook.
My husband LOVES the Baby Spider.
I tried drawing an architectural thing. I'm not good at it, but hey, gotta learn eventually! (I guess. Come to think of it, most people NEVER pick up this skill and turn out mostly OK.)
My sketchbook isn't quite up to the challenge of the sheer amount of paint I dump into it, but that's OK. We forgive each other. Hope everyone enjoys these spooky goodies!
"Wouldst thou like to live deliciously?" - Black Philip, the Witch
I painted HP Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe in order to spook up Halloween. I'll probably do Stephen King, too, at some point, and maybe Shirley Jackson. Anyone have any other favorite horror novelists?
I've combined Inktober and Drawlloween to create a bunch of big ink-wash paintings of horror themes. I'm really excited about these!!! I can't wait to have 31!
Here are a few sketchbook layouts I did with acrylic & pencil.
I love drawing series of things. This week's pick: owls.
Here are 5 assorted doodles! I hope you love them.
I took an hour or two and drew some owls while watching the 7th Harry Potter movie. The black (it's actually dark purple) ink is in a Platinum Preppy refillable marker (I SWEAR BY THESE -- you just need the ONE and can keep putting ink in it) (https://www.gouletpens.com/collections/other-writing-instruments/products/platinum-preppy-refillable-marker-black?variant=11884751487019) and the green is in an extra-fine Lamy Al-Star (https://www.gouletpens.com/products/lamy-al-star-fountain-pen-bluegreen?variant=11884855885867).
After my high school boyfriend and I broke up, I went to prom with a group of single friends. While I was in the bathroom, I overheard someone saying, "Leah Budin put in no effort at all." Ouch.
When I was a teen, my grandfather had alzheimers, a failing heart, and half of one lung. He was covered with scars and sometimes muttered at walls.
I was asked to keep an eye on him, briefly, one afternoon, while my grandmother did something else. While I was alone with him, he looked at an empty space right next to me, and whispered: "Mom? Dad? Is that you?"
With the exception of getting hit by a car, that was the most terrifying moment of my life.
I watercolored Mathilda's Ms Trunchbull as well as Bride of Frankenstein. I originally painted Lady Frankenstein in green, but it turns out she's a human-skinned person, so I had to change that in Photoshop.
Being the census taker for rabbits, in particular, must be a demanding job.
I'm sad that Oompa Loompas aren't real -- but if they were, I'd probably be terrified of them.
Do you enjoy creepy and/or sad things? This entire series is basically "I was a teenage goth."
Professor Unicorn always pontificates at length, even after the bell rings.
Everybody poops -- ESPECIALLY unicorns!
