A sketchbook drawing of the classical sculpture, The Wrestlers

I found this grouping quite challenging to draw. Also known as The Two Wrestlers, The Uffizi Wrestlers or The Pancrastinae. The sculpture is a Roman marble sculpture copy of a lost Greek original from the third century BCE. The piece is in the Uffizi collection in Florence, Italy.

I LOVE this! I really enjoy how you kept a tight focus on where the hands/arms come together and edges drift into more simple shapes. That must have been really challenging to draw, but it gives it so much dimension!

This is great! Have you seen some of the sites where they have this (and other classical sculptures) in 3-D....and even "slicable?" Here's one: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-uffizi-wrestlers-50500 Aah, modern technology.....

@mapalomar Thank you!

@inkpaperstring Thanks! The challenge of dimension is critical on a flat medium like paper. I'm still learning how to represent volume. Sometimes it works beautifully, sometimes it's a failure. The trick is to keep practicing, I guess.
