Thank you so much!!!
I have a bit of an odd process. Usually i just eyeball the sketch, but because of the size of this drawing i used the grid method. I then look for kind of a natural chunk/area to start shading. On the horses i do it’s generally the nose, however for this drawing i just went square by square because it was a grid. I then use a 6B (the only pencil i use for the entire drawing) and lightly shade the area I’m working on, to the point where its about a medium gray. I use a blending stick to smooth, and then go back over and lay in the dark parts and shadows (and blend again). Then i will use a kneaded eraser for the light areas and a regular eraser for the sharp highlights. I generally completely finish an area before moving onto the next one. Hope this helps :)
Please let me know what you think! I’m not sure abt the eye, the reference pic I’m using is low quality so I’m kinda improvising. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I’m finally done! ‘Veronique‘ is done in pencil, on Medium 80 lb drawing paper. She took me about 8 hours to complete. If you are interested in purchasing prints, please visit my website at this link:
