We celebrate this holiday in my family. I love your interpretation of him, it's really fun! Is there a traditional story behind his assistant, or is he of your own design?

Hi Riley, thanks for the compliment. I’m not Dutch so not really my tradition but I’ve lived here almost 20 years so have got to know him a bit. The guy on the back is Pete and a little controversial. He’s actually called black Pete but has caused a storm in recent years for racism. He’s changed a bit know and instead of ‘black face’ he now has soot from a chimney on his face so just a little dirty. He helps SinterKlaas be throwing peppernoot (a little cinnamon cookie) and sweets to the kids.
