Hermit Hello, my name is Hermit,
and I'm a doodle addict.
UK

I call what I do "skav art" which is firmly rooted in its doodling origins. It's really a form of finished thumbnail sketching, drawn on anything below the size of A5 using just one single medium like a pen or a pencil. It does away with any further artistic processes, concentrating more on that initial raw idea.

I specialize in art, artist, biro, creative, drawing, pen and ink, pencil, skav art.

CBA - FOUR

(Gel Fineliner on A5 Paper) An artist isn't being stroppy when they don't want to do any work. It's literally because they "can't be arsed!"

ZOMBIES & CHIPS

(Gel Fineliner on A5 Paper) A simple drawing to show how iconic zombies have become, and how they're lazily added to anything these days - Just like chips.

SACRED COW

(Gel Fineliner on A5 Paper) A simple image to show that sacred cows, of all kinds, should not be immune in the eyes of any artist.

PUB SIGN

(Gel Fineliner on A5 Paper) My opinion of the whole Inktober challenge. There's something to be said for the rebellious nature of drawing a simple cock and balls!

EUGINE COCKSHAFT - British Heroes

(2B pencil on 141mm x 118mm paper) "They're not flag-waving wannabes, or finger-pointing-blamemongers. They're true British Heroes! They were born with spines of steel, have spunk by the bucketload, and their upper-lips aren't just stiff, they're rock-solid! They're the type who'll kick those mad-dogs aside and proudly march, bare-arsed, into the midday sun!"

SMALL HOUSE FOR SALE

(black biro on 74mm x 97mm memo paper) If that was being advertised in London, it would probably go for half a million and be split up into flats (apartments).

TOON TORN

(HB pencil on a 87mm x 139mm postcard) Every leap year day, the residents of toon world go batshit crazy and indulge themselves, because it's the only day when they can really get hurt.

DEADLY SILENCE

(Black biro on a 125mm x 75mm notecard) He'll be fine as long as he keeps talking. Luckily for him, he can arse-on about that crap forever and so just keep out of reach of the bollocks monsters.

Blasphemy #2 : NARNIA

(2B pencil on a 198mm x 124mm book title page) Profanity is a common form of blasphemy. Here, I've used it in a similar way as you'd see fonts used in the old Letraset catalogues. Plus, nobody says "fadge" anymore, and that used to be a good swear-word.

WIZBANG! - Mind Probe

(2B pencil on a 87mm x 139mm postcard) The old comic book adverts used to promise amazing things for cheap prices. Here, I've spoofed that with an advert for a mind probe.

WIABANG! - Star Portal

(2B pencil on a 87mm x 139mm postcard) Sometimes, how-to books were sold in old comic book adverts. These ranged from ventriloquism to hypnosis and promised amazing things when, in reality, they were just little booklets. With this artwork, I chose to depict one that would show you how to build something truly wonderful.

WIZBANG! - Death Ray Specs

(2B pencil on a 87mm x 139mm postcard) X-ray specs were an iconic mail order item in comics. It was one of the first things that kids bought that introduced them to the world of dubious adverts. I kept the image here simple, like the original advert.

WIZBANG! - Pocket Atom Bomb

(2B pencil on a 87mm x 139mm postcard) There used to be comic book adverts for cap grenades, which this is a parody of.
