Lone Stag Hello, my name is Lone Stag,
and I'm a doodle addict.
New Orleans

Told by a co-worker that I could learn to draw. Doubted him, but tried anyhow. Watched a couple videos, read a few books, got a few supplies. 2+ years later, still putting pencil to paper. Very unofficial Arsenal artist.

I specialize in drawing, graphite, pencil drawing, people, portraits, traditional art, writing.

Darth Vader Fan Art

Watched a video of Mark Crilley doing this drawing so I tried to emulate it. Black paper and white pencil is its own form of skill.

Progression 5 of 5. Final Drawing. Overall, satisfied with how this came out. I should have done a better job of the hard lines, especially around the skin. Also, my vision for the background didn't come out quite as planned, but I didn't want it to draw the eye more than the main focus, so I left it lighter and vague. There were a lot of Nike symbols in this piece!

Unai Emery

Unai Emery. Arsenal Football Club Manager. I think I could have put another hour or so into this and worked the finer details, but overall happy with how it turned out.

Aaron Ramsey

Finished this up. Overall happy with how it turned out. Ramsey left the team this summer after 10 years.

Mesut Özil

Progression 2 of 5. In this one I added shading to his face and neck and scetched out the hair. His ears were a bit tricky too since they are as distinctive as his eyes.

Progression 4 of 6. Here the drawing starts to come together. I built on the layers I put down in the earlier portions of the drawing. Spent some time on the beard and mouth.

An earlier drawing from a Mark Crilley how-to. https://youtu.be/yPQV7rwUKrM This might be one of those I try again at a later date.

Continuing my soccer-themed pieces with a heavy slant towards Arsenal (COYG!). Overall happy with how this one came out.

Howling Wolf

Had some doubts on this one. Originally planned for more in the back and foreground. Felt it might take away from the wolf as the focal point. Graphite pencils. Black was charcoal pencils.

Progression drawing 5 of 7. This is an earlier drawing of a how-to video from Emmy Kalia. All credit to her. This one may not seem like a lot of progress from the last upload, but I did manage to lighten up that dark spot on her cheek. Link: https://youtu.be/80ewdDwAVk4

Pretty much the title. This was from a how-to of Mark Crilley. https://youtu.be/h1hNe7jF4JM

Progression image 4 of 6. 11x14 Marker paper, Medium Graphite Pencils (asst. B-5B). This is where I felt the piece coming together. I spent a lot of time working on her left eye.

Drawing a Model

Progression image 5 of 6. 11x14 Marker paper, Medium Graphite Pencils (asst. B-5B). Here the drawing started to come together. I used a metal tip to a mechanical pencil and dragged it along the paper to create the highlight effects in her hair. It is effective but irreversible, so I don't do it very often.
