Africa - this is part of series of illustrations created for a set of vessels for a client.

This was a bird that escaped from the local zoo and turned up in my neighbourhood. A few volunteers managed to capture it and return it but before they did they managed to get some great photos. It was the insipiration for this drawing. I think it is an african starling.

I used African motives to create the background and the erasers of the pencils, I used the African round huts.

I spent a chunk of my New Years break rendering masks in ink and watercolor. I can't get over their shapes and the emotionality of them.

"We just came from South Africa" they said when I arrived.
