This was Emma Thompson in one of my favourite films, Stranger Than Fiction - she is brilliant! I used just colouring pencils in this one to try out a soft, harmonious look, on the background of blue A4 card. I quite like the relationship between the foreground and background in this piece; had the background been white, I don't think it would have worked as well.
My project for a skillshare course I am taking. I am trying to work on developing more textures and drama to my paintings as well as improving on the composition. Any advice or tips that you can share would be appreciated. Thanks!

Scans of my old school gel pen on construction paper early loops works. The green and blue are straight up scans. The others are playing around with mirroring and adding effects in Photoshop to scans of drawn works.
butterflies # ????? : two holly blues. This was a hard one and worthy of an art block
with top and bottom wings distinguishing the species, composition and pose was almost impossible. Cue two of the Holly Blues! :)
Blue ballpoint pen portrait built through line, repetition, and accumulated marks. I let the background grow dense and restless while keeping the face comparatively quiet—using the brim and shadow to divide the portrait between what is revealed and what remains hidden.
