Five Chairs, Holding Space
1/3

Chairs are more than wood or iron. They are metaphors, quiet keepers of what it means to be present. They wait, as Wendell Berry might say, for us to “make a place to sit down. Sit down. Be quiet.” I draw them because they embody the humblest love—affection, as Berry calls it, that “gives itself no airs.” In their stillness, chairs hold the weight of relationships, the churn of thought, the grace of silence. They are where we meet, where we linger, where we become. These three drawings are offerings—sketches of chairs that invite connection, reflection, and the slow work of being. Each is a small sacred place, as Berry reminds us, not desecrated by haste or distraction, but alive with possibility. Drawing 1: The Coffee Shop Chairs Two wooden chairs face each other across a small round table in a coffee shop, their grain worn smooth by years of elbows and whispered truths. The table is a circle, a shape that knows no hierarchy, only intimacy. These chairs are for relationships that dare to deepen—for friends who risk vulnerability, for lovers who speak in glances, for strangers who become less strange. They ask for eye contact, for mugs of coffee grown cold in the heat of conversation. Here, sentences begin, “I’ve always wanted to tell you…” or “What if we…” These chairs shun the clamor of screens, as Berry urges, and invite the “three-dimensioned life” of shared breath. They are the seats of courage, where presence weaves the delicate threads of togetherness. Drawing 2: The Sandwich Café Chairs In a sandwich café, two wooden chairs sit across a small square table, its edges sharp, its surface scarred by crumbs and time. These chairs are angled close, as if conspiring. They are for relationships of a different timbre—perhaps the quick catch-up of old friends, the tentative lunch of colleagues, or the parent and child navigating new distances. The square table speaks of structure, of boundaries, yet the chairs lean in, softening the angles. They wait for laughter that spills over plates, for silences that carry weight, for the small confessions that bind us. These are chairs for the work of relating, for the patience that “joins time to eternity,” as Berry writes. They ask us to stay, to listen, to let the ordinary become profound. Drawing 3: The Patio Chair A lone cast-iron chair rests on a patio, its arms open to the wild nearness of nature—grass creeping close, vines curling at its feet, the air heavy with dusk. This chair is not for dialogue but for solitude, for the slow processing of thought. It is the seat of the poet, the dreamer, the one who sits with what was said—or left unsaid. Here, ideas settle like sediment in a quiet stream; here, the heart sifts through joy or grief. As Berry advises, this chair accepts “what comes from silence,” offering a place to make sense of the world’s noise. Its iron roots it to the earth, unyielding yet tender, a throne for contemplation where one might “make a poem that does not disturb the silence from which it came.” This is the chair for becoming, for growing older, for meeting oneself. These three chairs—one for intimacy, one for the labor of connection, one for solitude—are a trinity of relation. They are not grand, but they are true. They hold space for the conversations that shape us, the silences that heal us, the thoughts that root us. They are, in Berry’s words, sacred places, made holy by the simple act of sitting down. My drawings are but traces of these places—postcards from moments where we might remember how to be with one another, or how to be alone. So, pull up a chair. Or three. Sit down. Be quiet. The world is waiting to soften.

Deeply
1/5

I have a certain energy that runs through me, almost like a current. Balancing this energy can be quite a challenge, but I have found that meditation helps me to find my center. I like to quiet the noise around me and focus on my inner truth. Sometimes, I begin my meditation with my eyes closed, allowing my emotions to guide me in sketching out my experiences. This helps me to open up my channels of creativity, which I am currently using to work on my upcoming novel. I can't reveal too much about it yet, but I hope you will enjoy the sneak peeks I'll be sharing as I work toward completion.

Someone close to me is homesick for Brazil so I painted and printed this for them. I wanted the comp to be simple and its intentions obvious. I had fun with the hills and atmospheric perspective. This is not AI nor is any part of this AI.

Tamagotchi egg hatching animation

The closest thing to my right was my new tamagotchi which I got for Christmas. It gave me the inspo to experiment with animation! I used the main colour of my tamagotchi for the base, pink. I am not one to use pink, I am all about the blue!! You can find the animation on my Ko-fi, Cheza Sengoku. or link to my post https://ko-fi.com/post/Tamagotchi-egg-hatching-animation-M4M6HG53S

Portrait of Bob the Drag Queen

Bob the Drag Queen is a legendary performer and personality. She is one of my favorite people. I kept the composition simple to focus on shading and facial dimensions. I paid close attention to not lightening her skin tone and respecting her heritage but also contrasting the gold dress and blue background.

“Laurel Weaver/Returner”, February 2022.

Rainy days = a perfect excuse for a shedload of coffee and drawing to indulge in. :) Occurs to me I did one with the title “Laurel Weaver” close to four years ago. Not much else connects the two beyond the title or does it? I don’t know... Whatever the case, I fancied recycling and revisiting this idea somehow. Enjoy!

South Poll, May 2021.

I know there’s probably a few decent folks worth voting for come the general election here in Scotland I’ll settle on, though for the most part the loudest mouthpieces seem to just scream ‘bell-end’ to me... I was playing around with Google Translate and various sentences I’d jotted down, and opted to go with the closest approximation from English into German for ‘I’m voting for Muppets’, which is 'Ich stimme fur Muppets'. ‘Ich stimme’ read to me as ‘itch stim’ for whatever reason (anglophone and neurodivergent here), which seems rather fitting as the thought of the worst candidates getting in is liable to have us all come out in stress rashes, am I right?

The European Goldfinch

The European Goldfinch is a striking small finch with a distinctive red face and black-and-white head. Its wings are black with a bright yellow wing bar, while the body is mainly buff or light brown. During the breeding season, the bill of male and female goldfinches is white, but at other times of the year, it is marked with a black tip. Female goldfinches are very alike in appearance to males, and visually, it is hard to tell them apart from a distance. At close range, the sexes can be distinguished by the size of the red facial patch, with the females not extending past the eyes as it does in males of the species. Juvenile goldfinches do not develop adults' red, white and black facial markings until the late summer or autumn after hatching. Until this point, they have streaky buff-brown markings on their heads. Info: Birdfact . com

Close your mind

In the end I began to feel weak at the knees and then I knew that soon it would be too late, in a few seconds it would be too late, so I let it fall into the gutter and began rolling very quickly and without looking up. I kept my nose just above the top of the stone so that the room I had hidden us in would be as tiny as possible and I heard very clearly how all the cars stopped and were angry but I drew a line between them and me and just went on rolling and rolling. You can close your mind to things if something is important enough. It works very well. You make yourself very small, shut your eyes tight and say a big word over and over again until you're safe. - Sculptor's Daughter by Tove Jansson #dailydrawing #tovejansson

RECOVER YOUR SCAMMED CRYPTO WITH THE SUPPORT OF SALVAGE ASSET RECOVERY

Fraudulent companies have increasingly exploited the rapidly growing cryptocurrency market by offering crypto-backed debit cards that claim to allow users to spend their digital assets seamlessly in everyday transactions. These scams often lure victims with promises of exclusive “Platinum” or “Elite” cards, which require a substantial upfront deposit. Once the payment is made, however, the promised cards never arrive. I found myself caught in this web of deceit when I was enticed by the allure of a “Platinum Crypto Card.” The marketing was compelling, showcasing high spending limits and instant access to my cryptocurrency funds. I was convinced that this card would elevate my financial experience, allowing me to use my digital assets just like cash. After much deliberation, I took the plunge and paid $25,000 upfront, believing I was making a wise investment. But as the days turned into weeks, my excitement quickly turned to dread. The card never arrived, and my attempts to contact customer support were met with silence. It felt as if the company had vanished, leaving me in a state of disbelief and despair.Realizing I had been defrauded was a crushing blow. I felt a mix of anger and shame, grappling with the fact that I had trusted this company. With no clear path to recovery, I felt utterly helpless. That’s when I discovered Salvage Asset Recovery, a service dedicated to tracing and recovering cryptocurrency lost to fraud.I reached out to them, desperate for assistance. They began their investigation by tracing my digital transactions linked to the initial payment. Using advanced cryptocurrency analysis tools, they identified the scammer’s wallet address. To my shock, this wallet was part of a larger network connected to a notorious Ponzi scheme that had defrauded many others. Salvage Asset Recovery didn’t stop there. They worked closely with cryptocurrency exchanges where some of the stolen funds had been transferred. By presenting detailed transaction histories and wallet connections, they managed to persuade several exchanges to freeze the fraudulent assets. In the end, they successfully recovered $18,000 of my original $25,000 payment. While I still faced a significant loss, the recovery provided a sense of relief and justice. This experience has taught me the importance of vigilance in the cryptocurrency space. I now understand that while the potential for profit is immense, so too is the risk of fraud. Services like Salvage Asset Recovery are crucial in this battle against crypto scams, offering a lifeline for victims like me who feel lost and betrayed. HIRE AN AUTHORIZED CRYPTOCURRENCY RECOVERING HACKER / CONTACT SALVAGE ASSET RECOVERY

Cryptocurrency investing has always been a passion of mine but that passion quickly turned into panic when I became the victim of a fraudulent SOL trading platform. The platform promised a fifteen percent daily return which seemed like an incredible opportunity I could not miss. I was drawn in by the sleek interface, positive reviews and supposed user testimonials. Believing I had found a breakthrough I went ahead and deposited 92000 in SOL.To my horror the platform shut down the very next day. My account was wiped clean and I had no access to my funds. Just like that my entire investment vanished and I was left in financial ruin. The days that followed were some of the darkest I have ever experienced. I struggled to pay my bills, skipped meals and found myself in a deep emotional and financial pit.Feeling defeated and ashamed I turned to a close friend and confided in them. That conversation changed everything. My friend referred me to SALVAGE ASSET RECOVERY , a specialized team that deals with cryptocurrency scam recovery. I was skeptical at first. After all, I had already been scammed once and was hesitant to trust anyone again. But desperation pushed me to give it a try. SALVAGE ASSET RECOVERY impressed me. They listened carefully to my story, explained the process in clear detail and reassured me that they would do everything possible to help. Using advanced blockchain tools and digital tracing methods they were able to locate the flow of my stolen funds.Weeks later I received the news I never thought I would hear. SALVAGE ASSET RECOVERY had successfully recovered my entire 92000 in SOL. I was overwhelmed with relief and gratitude. I could finally breathe again knowing that my hard earned money had not been lost forever. If something sounds too good to be true in the crypto world it almost always is. While I still believe in the future of blockchain I now invest with much more caution and diligence. To anyone who has fallen victim to a similar scam know that all hope is not lost.
