Folktale Week Day1: Home. This is a folktale about the ghost of a woman who lived at Heceta Head Lighthouse Her baby died when she fell off the cliff outside their home. Tragic!

Inktober Day 1️⃣1️⃣ SNOW

Super late for inktober but I didn't want my ideas to go to waste. ^^ I dunno if I'll finish but I'll try to draw as much as I can without overexerting myself. Anywaaay...! This illustration is a fan art of the two main characters from relatively unknown PS2 classic, Okage. If you haven't heard of it or paid it much attention before, it's a must-play if you don't tire of JRPGs!! The art style is beautiful and reminiscent of Tim Burton's stuff~ Once I have time this'll be available at my art shops. Links below! This one didn't make me happy. I like the volcano, but everything else looks like ash. :(

Inktober Day 1️⃣0️⃣ PATTERN

I wasn't feeling today's theme so I went with some ornithological humor. It's niche, I know.

Inktober Day 1️⃣ RING

We continue the #inktober environmental issues series with the #day19 word: #scorched and for this word I tried to illustrate the Urban Heat Island effect. This takes place in metropolitan areas that are warmer than the rural areas surrounding them. The main cause of the UHI effect is the alteration of land surfaces (concrete and asphalt). Heat waste produced by people and their tools (like vehicles and industry) is another cause and also the decreased amount of vegetation. UHIs often have lower air and water quality that have a negative effect on the environment of these areas. It is also considered to be a possible contribution to global warming. © Maria!Bălan, 2018

For day18 the inktober word was bottle so this is quite simple. Let's recycle plastic bottles so we won't get buried in them.

#Swollen is the word for #inktober #day17. Because the city I live in is swollen from cars, buildings, humans, rats, pigeons, dirt and trash I considered the word to be proper for the problem of urbanization. Even if it's a natural transformation, it comes with a lot of issues. I see it as a concrete and steel monster eating the nature that stands in its way. © Maria!Bălan, 2018

For day 15 the inktober word was weak so I decided to approach the subject of hunting for trophies. It is not the animal that's weak it's the human that's cruel. A lot of species become endangered because of our need to kill. We should love and protect all the animals, not put them on walls (real or virtual) only for our pleasure and ego.

I intended to do quick little spot illustrations for Inktober this year, but nooooooo! Now Jimmy is drowning in digital ink and lots of doodle details. This was way too much fun to go simple. I also included the original sketch this time.

For #day11 the #inktober word is #cruel. Wearing natural fur only because it looks good on you is not a reason for animals to be sacrificed.

the next piece for #inktober environmental issues series continues with #day10 word #flowing. It's quite hard to correlate a situation with a word, but this is how flowing and plastic waste ended up looking like. How much plastic waste do I produce in a day? In a week? How about a year? Nature is full of plastic waste and is overflowing everywhere. In the rivers, seas and oceans... Next time they ask you at the supermarket if you need a plastic bag, think again...

Inktober2018day14. Clock. I love time. I hate time. It goes too fast and there’s never enough of it. If I had more of it, I would be able to post every day for inktober. I wasn't going to participate this year, but after 4 or 5 days in, I figured if I did a very simple line drawing, like I started doing with the little box chicken character I could make every remaining day, but I just couldn't stop myself from going all out on some pieces. It's like I always want to add more. So maybe it’s going to be quality not quantity for me this year. Please enjoy.

Inktober2018day12-Whale. I’m using inktober to explore and improve my techniques. This time I wanted to try using more crosshatching. I’m happy with the result. Also, at first I had nothing for the whale prompt but it’s rewarding when you push through the dead space and a concept or idea comes to my head that I can be excited with.
