Now that I started to draw my photos, I noticed that I started taking different pictures. I am taking fewer "good" pictures - composition, color all went out the window. Instead, I am taking pictures of things that made me happy or just tickled my fancy.
A stack of blinis, made from my great-aunt's recipe. A book that I accidentally discovered that is so weird and funny. A secret compartment in the wall in a supermarket.
This week’s been an interesting one for socialising in my world, no denying it. If I’m not getting acquainted with new folks at work or at my art clubs, it’s reconnecting with people I haven’t seen in 20+ years… certainly informed today’s piece, without a doubt!
today is the birthday of Sebastián García, who voiced Oz Vessalius in Pandora Hearts, Hikaru Hizashi in Beyblade Burst: Surge, Liam Williams in Koala Man, Greg Heffley in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid animated franchise, and Victor in My Dog Pat in Gaby's Dollhouse. He was the first voice of Pandy Paws.
It's also the birthday of Jessica Ángeles, who voiced Teddy Duncan in Good Luck Charlie!, Shoko Komi in Komi-san Can't Communicate, and Panzy in Dragon Ball. Daima in Unikitty, she was the voice of Feebee (as a fun fact, Jessica Ángeles only voiced Unikitty in The Lego Movie, its sequel, and in the LEGO Dimensions game).

Louise Bourgeois (1911–2010)
“My life has been regulated by insomnia,” Bourgeois told an interviewer in 1993. “It’s something that I have never been able to understand, but I accept it.” Bourgeois learned to use these sleepless hours productively, propped up in bed with her “drawing diary,” listening to music or the hum of traffic on the streets.
“Each day is new, so each drawing—with words written on the back—lets me know how I’m doing,” she said. “I now have 110 drawing-diary pages, but I’ll probably destroy some.

Joseph Cornell (1903–1972)
Cornell worked nights at the kitchen table, sorting and assembling materials for his boxes. It was not easy going. Some nights he felt too fatigued from his day job to concentrate on his art and would sit up reading instead, switching on the oven for warmth. In the mornings, his quarrelsome mother would scold him about the mess he’d left at the kitchen table; without a proper workroom, Cornell was forced to store his growing collection of magazine clippings and dime-store baubles out in the garage.
In 1940 Cornell finally mustered the courage to quit his job and pursue his art full-time—and even then his habits changed little. He still worked nights at the kitchen table, while his mother and brother slept upstairs. In the late morning he would head downtown for breakfast at his local Bickford’s restaurant, often satisfying his sweet tooth with a Danish or a slice of pie (and lovingly cataloging these indulgences in his diary).

Sometimes, I re-read books and they don't have the same impact as before. Sometimes, I re-read them and they hit me harder.
Roadside picnic by Brothers Strugatsky made me cry. This is my favorite book by them, although I do so love Monday starts on Saturday. But this book! I wish more people would read it.
I always start packing by packing my books. For larger ones I love using twine.
