A fun drawing to do. I usually do a lot of crosshatching, but for this one I went for the smoothness, better to capture the light, I suppose, where crosshatching can be a little distracting. Or look like hair! As some have said.

Love dahlias, not just because they are so ornate, but also because they bloom so very late. The tuberous begonias and potted dahlias are still in full bloom at the start of November, how cool is THAT? (For the northern hemisphere and 47th parallel, no less!) This study of a piano was done for a woman who was a missionary with her husband. They served in a Christian ministry that reached out to military personal and their families, through the teaching of the Holy Bible and showing hospitality. They have been missionaries most of their lives. I met them while i was a summer missionary the year I was in college. I went back two more summer to help , and they became my friends. The woman is a gifted piano player, so I was asked if i could do an illustration of her piano for her. This couple have inspired me through their dedication of using their lives to serve God through serving others, that many may know God through the teaching, and living out the Word before others.

Being a retired nurse, I often frequent , among others, an old folks forum and nurses website. One ongoing thread I have is called Davey Do's Art News, and I mentioned this website and a couple of artists who I've had the pleasure of communicating.

I chose to build on the liminality of the door and its status in the imagination as a link between two worlds or identities. In this section I am using the fibres of gloves to create different forms of hands and transparent boxes to represent the idea of space.
Through my art I try to express the limited space in which I live, thus focusing on the sense of self that is to be achieved by isolating one's cognitive processes through dialogue with space. The relationship between solitude and space is a subjective process of self-consciousness that involves the absence of social attributes and interaction with others. In other words, it is a non-objective state of space in which the self can find expression. Loneliness therefore manifests itself in a reluctance to approach groups.
