Sometimes being a designer for a living can make designing unfun. That's when I run to my sketchbook where there are no right or wrong answers. A place where my work is no longer being judged by the world, but a place of expression.
This was a commission piece for a local hair design salon (Atomic Salon). One of the owners wanted to have a portrait of the duo-founders/owners in the style of an old photo.
Tribal Hillary - I find her face fascinating and never the same from one time to the next. Sort of like every wrinkle and line telling us what she has been up to on any given day. I see a lot of fighting spirit in her, which inspired this portrait.
