Happy Halloween: Illustration of Wendy Torrance from The Shining.
Technique:
Markers & some digital edition
Paper: my notebook Tilibra, couché, 150 g/m
For Inktober 25, I played around with a rainbow rubber stamp and markers. Simple but it was a lot of fun! And isn't Inktober all about experimentation and practise?
India ink on tissue paper. I had never used ink on this kind of paper before; I really liked the results! There are some folds and wrinkles on the paper that give the pattern some interesting details. The paper is also super absorbing, which plays nicely with the quantities of ink. Since it's very thin, there can easily be overlays between textures. And finally, when trying to use less ink (so that it wouldn't seep through and cause a big dot - the absorbing quality is nice, but it was also somewhat of a challenge!) I used very little ink on the lettering, causing a scratchy, dry look.
"Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infect the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around them." - J.K. Rowling
Here are more Inktober paintings! My sketchbook is getting crinkly when I turn the pages from all this ink. I love that sound. It echoes the sound of crunchy leaves outside. Ah, fall. HALLOWEEN FOREVER.
Here are 5 #Inktober paintings. I've been painting every single night and loving it. I think that my high school art teacher might have been right when he said doing a daily painting was key to his being an artist.
Progression drawing 5 of 7. This is an earlier drawing of a how-to video from Emmy Kalia. All credit to her. This one may not seem like a lot of progress from the last upload, but I did manage to lighten up that dark spot on her cheek. Link: https://youtu.be/80ewdDwAVk4
Something I drew for Halloween upon request from followers on social media. I really wanted to mimic that uneasy otherworldly tone the film had, but I don't think I pulled it off very well.
