Inktober 14 - Invocation :) That's week two done! Even though I won't finish by the end of October, I'm gonna try to finish the prompt list!

Finished full version of an image I did in three parts, adding to it to create three separate images.

I used to fish a fair amount, and when I did, I almost always used squid as bait. This was my submission for inktober's bait theme.

Of all the dreams I’ve had in my life, the one I had back in July of 2007 as a 14 year old seems to have stuck somewhere in my memory the longest. It involved some airy-fairy death and rebirth of the world and it all got very 2001-sy real quick. Here’s a retelling of that story...ish.

I had a rock tumbler as a child and really enjoyed it. When my youngest was a child we bought her one. She was eager to enjoy it too, but somewhere after starting on that path, we lost track and it everything inside turned into a solid mass. We tossed it and forgot about it. On a recent beach trip, I collected handfuls of rocks, as I am always likely to do, and, upon return, remembered how I loved my childhood rock tumbler. I immediately researched, ordered and eagerly anticipated its delivery. Of course, with Amazon Prime, that was only a couple day’s wait. As soon as I unboxed it I thought “what am I doing?” I have neither time, nor space for yet another hobby. I thought “what will I DO with a pile of polished, pretty rocks?” I would gather them in my hands and feel their silky smoothness. I would likely gather them in some beautiful glass bowl and…then what? I have toddler grand kids frequently at my home. They put small colorful things in their mouths and up their noses and feed them to the dogs regularly. And I don’t even have a single space to display a bog bowl of pretty rocks. So I quickly decided “I’m Returning the Rock Tumbler” and will, for NOW, stick to painting them when the mood strikes.

I drew, I collaged, I pasted and just arted in general. Times are good!

Fish doodlin'

The European Goldfinch is a striking small finch with a distinctive red face and black-and-white head. Its wings are black with a bright yellow wing bar, while the body is mainly buff or light brown. During the breeding season, the bill of male and female goldfinches is white, but at other times of the year, it is marked with a black tip. Female goldfinches are very alike in appearance to males, and visually, it is hard to tell them apart from a distance. At close range, the sexes can be distinguished by the size of the red facial patch, with the females not extending past the eyes as it does in males of the species. Juvenile goldfinches do not develop adults' red, white and black facial markings until the late summer or autumn after hatching. In fact, she [Mummy] said after a while, we have gone into hibernation. Nobody can get in any longer and no one can get out! I looked carefully at her and understood that we were saved. At last we were absolutely safe and protected. This menacing snow had hidden us inside in the warm for ever and we didn't have to worry a bit about what went on there outside. Then we began our underground life. We walked around in our nighties and did nothing. Mummy didn't draw. We were bears with pine needles in our stomachs and anyone who dared come near our winter lair was torn to pieces. We were lavish with the wood, and threw log after log on to the fire until it roared. Sometimes we growled. A while back, I jumped into a global property deal, saying folks like me could cash in on hot foreign housing scenes. Real estate - sure, everyone knows it prints money, a big-time industry worldwide. It looked solid at first - they showed me online walkthroughs of places I partly owned, got me pumped. Still, there was this weird vibe nagging me, hard to explain, just wouldn’t quit bugging me inside. I ignored it, though, brushed it off, kept going anyway. One thing I’d say now? Listen to that inner voice - every single time. I kept picturing the steady cash coming in, which blurred how clearly I saw things. At first, they paid me consistent returns, making it feel legit. Over time, though, I poured more money into it. Before long, I tried pulling out bigger amounts - but then the payouts just vanished. The reasons they gave shifted every week, and not long after, they began asking for added charges to fix the withdrawal issues. Still, I’d spent every dollar - put everything I owned into it, thinking it’d be okay. When things went south, I panicked, then remembered a name: {DIGITAL LIGHT SOLUTION}. Found them through some random post while scrolling late at night. Honestly? Didn’t believe they’d help, but they jumped on it fast, scanning stuff I didn't even know existed. Right away, knew these folks weren’t messing around. Used hidden clues online, tracked down where the cash got moved, and then fought to pull it all back into my hands. I'm happy the hard work brought results - my full investment was back in just 72 hours thanks to the team handling my issue. So some of these images are concepts covers for Monster. I'm done setting dates. When I finish it, I finish it. But until then, concepts. Monster is going to be story based on mental health with a mix of religion. I have stories inside and they are scratching to get out. But the struggles are real and I'm trying to get the images out and onto the screen, paper, and ink.
