I've been absent from the site for months, due to working on a book. But now that I have a bit of spare time, I've been dabbling in watercolours, something I haven't done in years. A bit rough to start but I'm enjoying it.

This coloured drawing I was working on for the past few days, wasn't very successful as I failed to properly bring the elements together. A few mistakes were made along the way, even if I managed to compensate for them quite a bit. But yea... There were a couple day's worth of journaling done on this one as I tried to make it a learning lesson.
What I Learned from Looking
through my childhood artwork, help me discover my art style: It was already within me. A Picasso documentary got me intrigued.The film captures the moment and the mystery of creativity.
Going all in with practicing bird anatomy (found myself seriously lacking in it). My brain can be quite a B**** when it comes to anatomy, because I always seek to "bring characters to life". Here, I was practicing on the body underneath the feathers and fluff... And end up using the shape of a chicken as a reference... XD
An exuberant, almost psychedelic take on a magical mushroom. The bright chartreuse cap is adorned with striking magenta spots that pop against a textured, almost chaotic background. This is a major redesign of the main character of a project I’m working on! Her name is Marie and I recently discovered that she has a Native American heritage , which I’m excited to explore with her :)
