Blasphemy #1 : HARRY POTTER

(2B pencil on a 195mm x 123mm book title page) The first of five in this project. I chose the Harry Potter book because it tells the usual religious "hero's journey" story, of a boy born for another life that sees outsiders as something different.

These masters of leaf-like camouflage can be found throughout Southeast Asia, with some of the biodiversity hotspots being Indonesia, Malaysia, and Papua New Guinea . This is Nanophyllium suzukii watercolor painting, I like so much this technique. More like this on: https://www.instagram.com/camilojulianc/

Sting Playing the Bass (unfinished)

This is a work-in-progress of a young Sting (from the Police) playing the bass. I used a .05 pen highlighted with Lady Grey tea (my favorite). Later, I'm gonna go back and ink everything in black.

I like it when I strike a nice combination of delicate features and bold marks. I suppose the simple palette helps in this case.

Rebelle World Illustration

When Rebelle 3 by Escape Motions came out I wanted to create something that really shows off its power. I normally draw in fountain pen first, but this was created entirely from scratch in Rebelle 3. Digital art tends to be cold and impersonal, but Rebelle's watercolor simulation looks & feels like real paint... and you can undo! That's critical for illustration work, as clients often request changes... But even for personal work- it means an artist can achieve a watercolor look without being at the mercy of the medium. So the result is more true to his or her vision.
