Sometimes being a designer for a living can make designing unfun. That's when I run to my sketchbook where there are no right or wrong answers. A place where my work is no longer being judged by the world, but a place of expression.
Just go out from my comfort zone doing some semi-realistic illustration. why lizard? im just love animal especialy reptile and fish. Maybe in the future ill make series of this illustration :D
The best that I know in summer is cottage life in Finland countryside. This is the image from the lakeside. Angling on a pier in perfect style. The color of the fishing hat and waterlily make a perfect match.
Cute peaceful fox drinking coffee, wearing a scarf. Trying gouache for the first time. It's a really nice medium. I am definitely going to keep at it and make some more gouache paintings.
Toys used to be so much cooler back in the day. I realize this makes me sound like a very old nerd. I also realize that I AM a very old nerd. So there's that.
(Gel Fineliner on A5 Paper) A "Twart" is someone who tries far too hard to be an artist. Each carries the metaphorical book: "The ABC Book on How To Be An Artist" Ticking off various points they think will make them such. You can usually tell who they are by the cheesy, inoffensive work they produce and a false, bohemian, facade. Because they think that's what artist are like.
Quick doodle I made in the morning,I had the speed paint video but I accidentally deleted it :/ luckily it was very easy to make and I can't wait to draw it again along with another doodle idea.
(Gel Fineliner on A5 Paper) The type of artwork which makes you look twice at it due to the title. If it was a photo or a sculpture, I'd probably use a readymade, but here it was something I could easily draw from memory with it being so basic and familiar to everyone.

A redraw of a drawing I did based off a drawing I did last year,what's different:no more eyelashes,I fixed her weird head shape,she now has jeans because it suits her better,no hair tie,her boots are now red.Algodón means cotton in spanish figured it was a better last name than candy.She was originally a side character in my story but now she's the main character.she's not bubbly or optimistic nor is she a pessimist but a realist.she works as a DEA agent to fight against crime and kingpins,her 1# foe would be ruthleen and parsnip.people don't take her seriously because she's pink,soft and fluffy.despite constant mockery,Clemence is always determined and confident.I might make a reference sheet of her one of these days.
Alamea is an entertainer,singer and dancer.she is super kind, passionate and selfless.whenever she makes a lot of cash,she donates her profits to needy ghosts.at first she welcomed Al and later on falls in love with him however Al didn't want to be a a relationship with her because he's not prepared which Alamea completely understood.her old design is the design where I colored her dress black,I was really trying to make her look distinctive from Princess Neera,I gave her rubber hose eyes and a pointy nose
Superstitions: Skull.
It was claimed in Ireland for many years that if a man took an oath on a skull and was lying as he did so, he would be struck dead soon thereafter.
* Maybe we should bring that back and make politicians swear on the skulls of those who lied and died. I bet there would be less lying thereafter.

A fun little drawing iv been working on for a few days on and off. I’m often asked about my Bic pen drawings and how I do them. It starts with a good foundational drawing, the ballpoint pen part is just trying to colour within the lines. I try to do my best to explain the process, but the best way to show my progress is by posting my efforts to master pen drawings over the span of 3 or so years. I have been doodling/drawing with ballpoint pens as far back as I can remember - they were cheap, readily available and always lying around the house. It wasn’t until I was bored during a particularly long team meeting-conference call (around 2016-17) that I started to think about the possibilities of ballpoint pens as serious portrait illustration tools. My first experiments with full colour ink portrait drawings were rather crude, but that’s the point of learning new techniques—as long as the curiosity and the love of drawing is there, you can transfer that skill and passion into any medium. Remember, the most exquisite drawings and paintings you see didn’t materialise fully formed, they started out as failed experiments. Failure after failure after failure. It’s important to remember this when you get discouraged (I've failed spectacularly over the years). The only difference between the accomplished artist and the beginner is hundreds of hours of practice. Talent can only get you so far. It’s the hard work that you do behind the scenes that makes your work look effortless. Keep doodling. Keep learning. Stay curious.
WHIP IT GOOD. This ode to Devo was drawn with fountain pen ink run through brush markers. The watercolor effect was me running a wet brush through parts to make the fountain pen ink lift and pool. If you want more Leah Fun™, be sure to check out instagram Super_Starling!
Morning play.
Watercolor paper tests with random colors. Ink on top to make each into a drawing. It was harder than usual today. Haven't done thise exercise in too long.
M is for Masstransitscope. Masstransitscope is a zooetrope made by Bill Brand in 80s. Now restored and enjoyed on the B line going from Brooklyn to Manhattan. It never fails to make me happy.
