Practicing tone with different levels of pencil pressure I found very difficult to do because it requires an immense amount of patience and my hat is off to all of you who have mastered it. ⁀⊙﹏☉⁀
It's crazy to think that we've been in a pandemic for a year or to think we could ever get used to this new way of life. March 13th, 2020 was the day everything stopped for me: it was the last day I went to school and the last day I went to gymnastics for 5 months. The promise of two weeks' time, something I somewhat desperately held onto. Going into this, no one knew what to expect, it was the first time many of us saw life as we know it stop. Quarantine has definitely taught me a lot emotionally, mentally, and how to reach out and work through (and what bad panic attacks feel like :) ). I think it also goes without saying that I got through most of this because of the people around me, and I can't say enough how grateful I am to be surrounded by such amazing people. So, here I am. Life is still pretty rocky, but it's a process. Thank you to everyone who's been along for the ride so far ❤

The companion piece to my previous post ‘Ecstasy.’ Agony and Ecstasy were always meant to be a diptych. The issue for me is that there is a two-year gap between the completion of the two - there is a noticeable difference in the the way both were drawn.

First time I draw a woman's face and I don't have the feeling the result it's an androgyny man. Can't say what's the difference, but this time it worked for me.

This came about from a doodle. Doodling is a combination of skilled scribbling, mindless direction & abstract tracing. Doodling [For Me] is not sketching someone's portrait or rendering a photo. It's freely skating w a pencil or pen along a drawing surface & searching for discoveries & different unusual paths that some how result in some lovely surprises. So here ye go. The entity in the picture is sort of like a grim reaper, except not. At the end of your life, you will find yourself in an eternal plane of nothingness. You encounter him; and you are presented with two options: to either accept your fate and have your memory wiped, as you are reincarnated, or you are able to have your soul taken out of your very body, have it turned into an orb, and you can stay for as long as you want until you are ready to go: hence, "Stay for Nothing." Whenever i hear the word 'graphic' on the news, my mind goes to art rather than the abrupt visual they feel needs a warning [Which i guess is a courtesy for some folks who just might not be able to handle such a site & prefer to look away.] Well, luckily, I'm not Pollyanna about this... As a creative, it is nearly impossible to hear that word 'graphic' & not flex my creative muscle & treat it w an alternative visual thot... 24/6! [I take Sundays off.] I was never fortunate enuf to attend college or to study graphic arts. But I actually think that this is a skill & craft of immense talent. To create aesthetic colors & shapes & beauty & what seems like using the most simplistic of techniques yet w the greatest of impact is simply mesmerizing to me. Why that color? Why that shape? & yet... it works!!!! So here is my attempt to simulate such a masterful profession but w a bit of humor.
