Pastel on drawing paper

Playing around with soft pastels on toned paper.

I've been working on various incarnations of this Millet. His original is in black crayon and is amazing.

I wanted to redo a simple drawing from 2011. I found it lying around the piles of paper that I swarmed myself with a decade ago. I like to think I've learned a bit more technique in these past years.

I have a lot of work to do with these pastels, but they are fun!

Trying some pastels after the drawing prompt. I like them. They are portable and you can create some fun effects. Of course, everything still looks like a seascape to me.

Thanks for missing me, Doodle Addict app. Pastels - as in pastel colors? Well...depends on how far we can bend that. Inspired by the hurricane that passed through this evening. The wind bent the largest trees to the ground. I'm happy to still have my roof.

Experimentation with pastel highlighters

Here's a drawing I did this evening while sitting in my backyard. I suppose it's a reflection of my mental state of this past week, and the concerns I have for the weeks to come. 10 cm x 16 cm.

Mixed gouache, ink, pencils, oil pastel.

Soft pastels on pastel mat. I got a set of pastels as a birthday present, so I had to try it. It's quite different from working with ink. I like the colors but I am searching for a better way do do the eyes and the horns.

My very first complete Watercolor painting: The Holy Spirit! in humanoid form instead of dove form. Of course God is love so I have his heart and the 3 flames are 3 because the Trinity. The Holy Spirit can take any form He wants and so I've always thought he also has like a spiritual humanoid form, I mean he can't just always be in dove form. :P I tried watercoloring in the past but never seriously, I don't even remember what I tried but I never finished anything, I just remember how frustrating the coloring process was and had many bleed throughs. That's why I've always prefered Acrylic. This time I gave it a try though after watching some videos with tips n tricks. I painted it on some small postcard sized watercolor paper. Finished this today in urban sketching. View from my backyard with Edinburgh tenements and a back corner of Fountainbridge library. Mixed media on A4 (pencil, watercolour pencil, brush pen, posca markers, white ink and conte pastel). I always end up mixing lots of media these days :O
