In late 2018, after some time not doing any artwork, I really wanted to get back into it. I fancied doing something different and invested in some soft pastels. This was my first go with them and it was a hell of a learning curve about how they adhere to the paper, and how they blend. I'm not really sure the pastels I was using were soft enough for the look I wanted, but I like how loose this one turned out.
This painting is basically for Janamashtmi and I have made Lord Krishna in it... And people here in India celebrate it really beautifully as today is the day he was born (^‿^) Happy Janamashtmi to everyone ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧
Soft pastels on pastel mat. I got a set of pastels as a birthday present, so I had to try it. It's quite different from working with ink. I like the colors but I am searching for a better way do do the eyes and the horns.
For our 10th anniversary this past Monday, we went on a hike at Land's End. It was cold and blustery! Got a quick sketch in from the labyrinth. Rain lines added as it started to rain by my son.
Life gives us too much work sometimes. Here's a minimalistic and simple splash of milk to brighten your day. Pastel colours that softens the image and allows you to feel relaxed. It’s been a crazy summer that’s kept me from posting much, although I’ve kept fairly consistent drawing in my sketchbook. With a cross country move and taking our oldest child to college, we’ve burned about 4,500 miles on the road in the past month. After getting our son settled in his dorm yesterday, my husband and I have become official members of the Empty Nesters Club - giving inspiration to today’s sketchbook entry.

I had this black cardboard lying around for quite some time so I finally decided to make something out of it. Went for a intense lighting on a horse silhouette because the cardboard is dark and well, because I really like horses. Hope you like it.
