So thankful for this experience that I shared with my class today. For the last 3 spring semesters, I’ve had the opportunity to take my KCAI Cultural Safari senior sketchbook class to draw from donor cadavers. Every year I am reminded of how amazing and intricate the human body is. I am also humbled by the generosity of the donors giving their remains to train young physicians. The conversations that result from these encounters always prove to be enlightening and inspirational. These are a few of my drawings I made.

Resting up before another big season starts!

Something a little different than my normal work. I just started a tattoo apprenticeship so I am learning to draw in traditional tattoo flash style. My old style of illustration work will not go anywhere. I am continuing that but just growing artistically and learning something new.

The Old Devils Are At It Again. One of my favorite songs by William Elliot Whitmore. I usually draw and paint to his music along with Willie Nelson, Lucero and Ryan Bingham. It also seems appropriate for the times...

Continuing my prolific streak as of late, because why not?

I've been practicing drawing portraits for a few days now. This is from a session I did over lunch where I was just messing around trying a few different things.

The Seasons. Acrylic Gouache on Wood Skateboard Deck. 7.75” x 32” Almost finished! I’ll be donating this hand-painted skateboard deck to support the Kansas City Artists Coalition’s 37th Annual Benefit Art Auction taking place on February 29, 2020. This is an extension of my steam of consciousness sketchbook practice. Having fun!

"Contemplation of the Jump" - drawn & colored in Escape Motions Rebelle. My drawings are pretty random, but after I make them I think about them a bit... like... what is that girl in that cave room thinking and why is he going to jump? I should probably know the answers... but I don't.

I was testing a Rotring Rapid Pro 2mm and this came out. Inked with a burgundy Custom 743 EF, an underrated workhorse of a pen.

Adobe just released a new drawing and painting app Fresco for the iPad. Here are few experimental images. I have to say I am impressed with the natural media brushes and the interface.
