Situational awareness is important these days. Pre-pandemic, I sometimes take my doodles to coffee shops during my lunch breaks and relax for half an hour or so by mindlessly scribbling/shading with my Bic pen. People usually leave me alone but this drawing made me realise that not everyone wants to see a man drawing a naked man. A few people took exception to my subjects’ lack of clothing and made their displeasure known by telling me. This is a story seed that I have not yet followed through on, probably won't for a while. I started drawing this mainly so that I could draw those front legs. I think I did pretty well on them, though my shading here needs work
I absolutely love colored pencils. The smell, sound, and feel of them, their texture is amazing. Shading and depth control are so easy with them. :) Lucy looks pretty worried. Don't worry, Lucy. I'm sure it will turn out fine.
I played with some different rendering techniques in my digital lineart/with some diagonal shading in the shadows in addition to my usual cell shading. I used the same colour as the hair /skin/ clothing in for my lineart on a 'multiply' layer then duplicated that layer and added a blur/reduced the opacity for its copy to soften the look of the lines.

Lucy Gray Baird of the Covey Baird! I finished this one a while ago, but I haven't uploaded in ages... This is maybe my fourth piece of digital artwork? Anyway, the shading was really fun, as was the pose.
So I'm a little behind the curve, but here's my day 1 for Inktober. This was my first time using my fountain pen for drawing, so I can't complain too much. There's definitely some room to grow. Lined with a TWSBI Eco: fine nib with Organics Studio Walden ink on Tomoe River paper. I'm a sucker for sheen, what can I say. The sad attempt at shading was done with a wet paper towel, so I'm guessing I could try upgrading my technique there ;D
I decided one day to do some shading on one of my little cartoon fairies. This is the result. A fun little piece featuring a fairy and little lightning bug discovering each other. :)
