First time coloring with markers since I was a kid. Couldn't sleep last night so I started drawing this. No idea what it is. Just let the pen do the work haha organized my art supplies today and decided to finally try out my markers.
I have given my students the problem of creating 100 self portraits in 20 days on 5x7 in paper. The challenge is to create something other than an image that depicts a 'dead-pan' stare. When the brain is given a problem, it goes to work immediartely to solve that problem. I have seen some wonderful solutions. This is a tall order for teens who are sensative to judgment and still developing in thier perception. It has generated wonderful discussions of self-awareness, world view, and judgment. Those who engage in the exercise in an authentic manner have only good things to say about the experience. It is not an exercise for everyone. We are on a journey. Be Bold! Be Honest! A friend of mine asked if I would draw her family in a star wars scene. She wanted to surprise her husband for father's day. Drawing the human form of Chewbacca was surprisingly difficult. I made their dog a sith lord because "She's an evil bitch". Overall, it was a fun piece
Of all the things to jumpstart my inspiration for this, I never had an eye-test and a fresh set of glasses the day after the Samhuinn Fire Festival took place… but alas, here we are!
A few years ago this little guy showed up. He started appearing in my doodles as encouragement. Always defending, never judging. He is the side of my brain that tells me everything is going to be OK. He builds me up, which is why I named him Buil.
The monochromatic weekly challenge inspired me to do an eye study. I've been having a bit of a composition block and thinking about starting to sell at art fairs, so my thoughts are preoccupied. A big fan of the Star Trek universe and was especially impressed with the final run of Picard. This is the new Enterprise in action, heavily damaged but winning a battle against a Klingon Bird of Prey. I wanted a unique angle and decided to flip the starship upside down. It's space; why not. Digitally painted in Rebelle 6 with watercolors, pen, and oil brushes, and meant to have a classic/watercolor feel. This is not AI nor is any part of this AI.
I was going for a surreal and moody feeling—dystopian, sort of not. Per usual, my inspirations are pretty noticeable. I am starting to get more comfortable being stylized. I am trying to put emotion in my landscapes. I used Rebelle 6
Felt inspired by this week's drawing prompt. Went with a Star Trek scene. Earth Spacedock from the movies always leaves me in awe. Tried to show it with its doors opening so you could see there is an inside. The starship's scale and perspective are off, but that is meh.
Filling my belly with the remnants of the night prior’s takeaway (almost always on Sunday mornings) before the day job starts is fast becoming a ritual of mine’s lately, hence the name of this one. The joys, eh?
Words of wisdom that a friend came out with during a Lord Of The Rings Extended Editions film night over the weekend jumpstarted my creative juices this time around. :-)
