Observations from an expedition to the Houston Museum of Natural Science, which features an incredible paleontology hall. I brought with me a pad of sticky notes, a couple Micron plastic nib pens, a set of Copic Markers, my fanny pack, and some headphones. Prehistoric life has been an infatuation of mine since childhood, and there is something very humbling about drawing in the shadows of these fallen giants.
(HB pencil on below A6 paper) One of a number of sketches I did in a small sketchbook I made for myself. They became a series of them based on one character contained in its 10 pages. The full series can be viewed here: http://www.skavart.co.uk/2018/10/lulani-greenstar-elven-witch.html
This was a project I did and totally forgot about. It's a Notan style dragon I did for a 2d composition class. I kinda like out it turned out. This was my first major foray into illustrator. Time: 3 hours Medium: Illustrator on Mac
Romping through the woods, I happened upon a faerie ring of Slenderman and his acolyte children. I stepped back slowly. I didn't want crunching branches to give me away.
My work is influenced by the American illustrators of the 1960s and 70s, as well as comic art from around the world. Please get in touch to discuss your latest project and how I can help.
Another charcoal on cartridge portrait. The fabulous Evan Peters acting as Tate Langdon in the first season of the hit television series, American Horror Story.
Well, I'm joining the Tumblr exodus, which is unfortunate because that's where I post all my sketches! Oh well. Hello DoodleAddicts! This was half of a recent assignment for a figure drawing 2 class, to draw our model in low key lighting. :) Time: 30 mins Medium: Charcoal on Paper
