Colorful Goldfish - Another watercolor sketch from my newest sketchbook. I'm using Strathmore Mixed Media 300 Series (5.5 in x 8.5 in). It has 40 sheets of 90 lb. vellum surface paper. They cost under $10 and can be used for most anything including wet media (light washes) without the paper falling apart or warping badly. One of the best all purpose sketchbooks I've found and the size makes it easy to toss in a backpack and carry daily. Anyway, just wanted to share my good experience with the group. What's your favorite sketchbook brand/format?
(2B pencil on a 87mm x 139mm postcard) The idea of owning an exotic pet was always used in comic book adverts. The most well known one being the sea monkeys. People thought they were getting something really special, until it was pointed out to them that they were just brine shrimp. But imagine if something like a pet demon was available!
haven't drawn her in a very long time but other than that she was fun to draw!she's the third female demon OC I created back when I was 17,she had a much more different look and she looked less like an demon princess and more like a succubus.I still haven't designed a crown for her yet I might give her some jeweled headband instead.she hides her eyes because as a royal she thinks that she should not have them exposed at all even though Eltrakarians have a lot of eyes. She is good friends with Prince Fedren, she is also older than him.perhaps I will make more of these OC drawings with descriptions soon.I forgot to include a color palette but I'll save it for a redraw or for another character drawing.
This is an earlier drawing I did from a Mark Crilley How-To video. All credit to him. Only thing I did differently was to add some red to the scales. Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XId8ethxg2M&t=0s&list=PLCD2CF65888663986&index=187
More ballpoint pen experiments. This was trying to "blend" colors, using ball point pens in a similar way to colored pencils. I found Layering evenly to be pretty difficult, esp with the pens blotching and very very limited burnishing. The interesting thing is that the paper doesn't seem to get "tired" the way it does with pencils. This is just cheap printer card stock.
In an attempt to be much more consistent with my drawing practice (and to tackle my insecurities about showing people my drawings) I am hoping that posting some of my sketches online will help keep me accountable. So day 1 sketch, I managed to find a very cheap used college set of Rotring Rapidograph pens online, when they arrived today I was delighted to see that they had NEVER been used! After a bit of a happy dance I got a couple of the pens assembled and started to figure out how they work. This is a quick sketch on tracing paper not that I was tracing anything I just need to invest in better paper with less tooth to be able to use these pens without having ink flow issues.
"If MF DOOM was a fox, he’d pro’ly steal a kid and lock it up in a box. But not to do it harm... More to save it from a life of working on a farm.
He’d do that kid a favor. He would save her. Just what you would expect from a friendly rapping neighbor."

Princess Leia is captured by Jabba the Hutt, a giant, slug-like alien who's also a kind of gangster lord. Fisher said, "I remember that iron bikini I wore in 'Episode VI,' what supermodels will eventually wear in the seventh ring of Hell." She's also said that her favorite moment in the "Star Wars" films was killing Jabba the Hutt. "I had a lot of fun killing Jabba the Hutt. They asked me on the day if I wanted to have a stunt double kill Jabba. No! That's the best time I ever had as an actor," Fisher told The Guardian. "And the only reason to go into acting is if you can kill a giant monster."
A tribute to Wassily Kandinsky. Painters do lots of doodling. Kandinsky played around with certain shapes again and again, so I thought I would too. I took shapes from lots of his paintings and moulded them into a doodle. Kandinksy was very meticulous wit

I was challenged to choose 10 music albums that defined my musical buds and I decided to draw them, in no particular order. Maybe it’s not the best one, but it’s most certainly one of the most meaningful for me ❤️Alanis
This piece began as a multi-colored abstract . . . but it was nowhere . . . nothing . . . and had no essence. So, I tried to take it in the direction of a landscape . . . and that was horrible. I gave the entire piece a whitewash using a white acrylic paint pen. And then the idea popped into my head to Doodle over the colored background. The title reflects the fact that the piece only came to life with the addition of the Doodles . . .
When Rebelle 3 by Escape Motions came out I wanted to create something that really shows off its power. I normally draw in fountain pen first, but this was created entirely from scratch in Rebelle 3.
Digital art tends to be cold and impersonal, but Rebelle's watercolor simulation looks & feels like real paint... and you can undo! That's critical for illustration work, as clients often request changes... But even for personal work- it means an artist can achieve a watercolor look without being at the mercy of the medium. So the result is more true to his or her vision.
(2B pencil on a 87mm x 139mm postcard) X-ray specs were an iconic mail order item in comics. It was one of the first things that kids bought that introduced them to the world of dubious adverts. I kept the image here simple, like the original advert.
