Putting the painting of the newt aside for now. It was not going as I hoped (see previous post)...I still have ideas but feel like I need to work on some things before progressing. Thinking it was the eyes, so decided to work on some studies. These creatures do have fascinating eyes!

The last male Sumatran Rhino in Malaysia has passed, yet Harpan (the baby here) still lives in the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary in Indonesia

I've been inspired by mountains, trees, and wildlife in general since moving to New Zealand. It's a new feeling and I like it.

I took an hour or two and drew some owls while watching the 7th Harry Potter movie. The black (it's actually dark purple) ink is in a Platinum Preppy refillable marker (I SWEAR BY THESE -- you just need the ONE and can keep putting ink in it) (https://www.gouletpens.com/collections/other-writing-instruments/products/platinum-preppy-refillable-marker-black?variant=11884751487019) and the green is in an extra-fine Lamy Al-Star (https://www.gouletpens.com/products/lamy-al-star-fountain-pen-bluegreen?variant=11884855885867).

The (i think) 12th and final butterfly for the Literal Butterflies Project. Wow! thats a lotta flutterflies. This one was certainly tedious with such elaborate markings, she wasn't easy! ... That said, none of them were. With such beauty, and intricate wing pattern and design, butterflies are a very difficult subject to work with. But somehow we managed to get through all 12 with some of my hair left! Loved every step of this journey :)

Red Admiral of the Fleet :3 this was a toughie, for trying to find a genuine admirals hat and symbol that wasnt fancy dress! Eventually traced the real thing by finding actual people wearing their hats

The Green hairstreak. Couldnt decided between backgrounds, after a bunch of fun with a hair extension and paint... and getting paint on the walls, floor, desk, tv screen, laptop, bed, Joey the lot

butter # i give up counting: small tortoiseshell

butterflies # ????? : two holly blues. This was a hard one and worthy of an art block with top and bottom wings distinguishing the species, composition and pose was almost impossible. Cue two of the Holly Blues! :)

Butterfly # ?? : The Swallowtail this was hard! Firstly trying to illustrate a swallowtail without decapitating a poor swallow... then trying to fit these two together. More paint splatter effect for a bit of zing

Butter #?? , The Comma. Now im losing count of these already! COming tomorrow is a different version of this with a colourful background, not deciding between the two and only being aloud one image a dayThis one shows 3 commas inYin and Yang harmony

My Illustrated giraffe used flora and fauna to create the patterns on the giraffe. Drawn with pen and ink, he was great fun to produce!

My Illustrated Alphabet letters were born out of a project in 2016. Each was drawn with pen & ink and each letter is illustrated with either an object, flora, fauna or wildlife that begins with that letter.

An Illustration born out of my love for rabbits! Drawn with pen & ink the bunnies are at home in their woodland environment!

My illustrated Bunny is detailed with wild flowers, flora and fauna and drawn using pen & ink.
