Ballpoint pen flowers

Image Art by @Ilga

More ballpoint pen experiments. This was trying to "blend" colors, using ball point pens in a similar way to colored pencils. I found Layering evenly to be pretty difficult, esp with the pens blotching and very very limited burnishing. The interesting thing is that the paper doesn't seem to get "tired" the way it does with pencils. This is just cheap printer card stock.

This looks so good; I can't believe it's ballpoint pens. I've considered trying this, but I've always chickened out. That's really interesting that the paper doesn't get as worn out (tired), I would've expected the opposite. I also tend to almost kill the paper when I use pencils..

@mapalomar Thanks, Maia. You CAN destroy the paper by digging in with the pens, but I used very thin layers (holding the pen at an angle so that I'm using an angled edge of the ball)...it's a good technique for using pencils so you don't gouge the paper, too. Aaww...don't chicken out....nothing to lose actually, as a BIC pen is under a buck, VERY inexpensive (esp. relative to "normal" art materials, eh?). I'm just exploring these pens beyond writing the grocery list, myself. But it's always fun to try something new.

Gorgeous. Can't believe this was done with BIC pens.

@punka Thanks....I used BIC Cristal, Papermate Inkjoy and Profile,, Staedtler Colored pens, and a few random pens from around the house.
