Smeared

Pastels...I've never been a huge fan of working with them, mainly because I can never seem to get them to blend or move the way I want. I think this turned out okay; it's not the worst it could've been...not the best. It was fun to try, considering the fact that I rarely try new mediums, and it got my mind off everything I've been worrying about. Anyway, enjoy.

Cool. Is the image based off a real place?

@Mmgalitz Thank you, and yes, it is! The reference image was of Cathedral Rocks in Australia. Sadly, I've never been there, but I stumbled upon the location when I was looking at landscape references.

@mapalomar Googled the Cathedral Rocks. I traveled close to this region but didn't get to see that particular formation. You might enjoy looking at images of the 12 Apostles along the Great Ocean Road in Southern Australia.

@Mmgalitz I looked into what you suggested, and it's truly gorgeous! All the color variations in the rocks would be so cool to see in person, and it seems like such an incredible place to be. I'm guessing you've traveled there...?

I like this a lot. Very atmospheric! Love the light on the water and the sun on the horizon.

@JGale Thank you!

I like the feel of this so much. You don't give yourself enough credit. The softness you created in the light is very cool and authentic. Feels emotional to look at.

@okat Thank you, that really means a lot to me! I tend to find it hard to be happy with my work, art and otherwise, and sometimes even be happy with myself. I see all the flaws and mistakes, which is good for improving and learning, but I shouldn't obsess over them the way I do. I suppose it's all a work in progress..
