Bite

"A dark man went on shovelling outside the door and all of a sudden I started to cry and I screamed: I'll bite him! I'll go outside and bite him! I shouldn't do that, Mummy said. He wouldn't under-stand. She screwed the top on to the bottle of Indian ink and said: what about going home? Yes, I said. So we went home." - Sculptor's Daughter by Tove Jansson #dailydrawing #tovejansson

This sounds like a beautiful book...I love your paintings on it! What inspired you to start making them for this specific book? I know I want to draw for things I love.

She is so visual in her descriptions but also there is space for my thoughts and interpretations. You know? Also, when I draw a book I am reading, I read better, with more attention. This is a book I wanted to pay attention to. She is so damn good!!

@meanwhileplaces That's amazing! I should start doing that too--we're reading Lord of the Flies in class right now. Anyways, you chose a good book. I looked up the author--she's pretty cool. She's done a lot of good work!
