Mel Hello, my name is Mel,
and I'm a doodle addict.
Planet Earth - North.

I love the way Art is a language with a vocabulary as diverse as life itself. A story or a message conveyed in lines, shapes and colour, a manifested expression from deep within ourselves. The process; Conception, development and completion of an idea is liberating and purging.. I love that timeless place, both losing and finding myself. The years have passed with changes, physically, mentally, spiritually and circumstancially; transitions and metamorphosis and yet one of the few things to have remained constant is the steadily surprising desire and need to put colour, lines and shapes to paper. The escape drawing and painting affords me is absolute and invaluable in making life do-able while occasionally projecting a message in the universally understood language of art ; a voice heard by the eyes and heart to those who stumble by chance upon it. I have included a few photographs also. I will soon have a website and some work will be for sale in the near future.

Be still and know.

Acrylic and pastel. PrAying Mantis. The patience and stillness of this little creature reminds me to be still. Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God". In stillness of prayer he speaks. Every creature on Earth seems to have a message...and painting them is an immersion that takes me deeper into the message.

Going home to God

Pencils, pastel. A depiction of Leaving the 2D flat, dense physical reality to go home to the multi dimensional reality which would be like a pencil line drawing suddenly developing detail and colour and lifting off the flat page.

Angel for Mum. Please pray for my Mum to recover.

Pastels. An Angel to hold my dear mum's hand. Dr's say she has only months left but I believe in miracles. Trying to stay strong and positive but I can feel my heart breaking it hurts bigtime. i am not ready to say goodbye. I was meditating recently (working on a visualisation to telepathically communicate with my cat....i suddenly saw a face....a man with shoulder length hair and a beard. The face faded and came back clearer..it was Jesus. (gate - crashing my cat telepathy!) I distinctly heard one word. "Listen". Next day i got a text which was vague but had underlining bad news vibe. I turned my phone off, held my hands over my ears and said out loud "I don't want to hear this!" Then I remembered the vision of Jesus and him telling me " Listen". He is preparing my heart again. Time and again he does this. Thankyou Jesus for being in my every moment. He never said life would be easy. Letting go is one of the hardest things we have to do. My mum said when she was in the hospital she felt someone hold her hand, when she looked up it was her dear friend who passed over a couple of years ago. Jesus knows who to send, what to say and how to heal broken hearts. When the heart is breaking, it is open and we truly know what love is. Love and be loved.
