Crosshatching was used to build up the shadows. It's probably my favourite drawing technique. Works best with pen and ink. This is the cover image for one of my children's picture books.

One of my favourite drawings. You can tell I was really on that day. So few strokes of the pencil caught shape and light. I won't sell this drawing.

This is an image I used for a poetry book.

Biking is my second love. And I should do more images like this as my imagination flies when I bike.

River painted the background and I painted him into his picture.

In the style of Lucien Freud, this little painting didn't take long, but was fun and an accurate representation of the model. Plus size models are often just as interesting as many of the thinner models we got in drawing sessions. Beauty exists for different people in different ways. Character is certainly a big aspect.

Doodling in a sketchbook is very stress-relieving and calming. I recommend it to everyone :) You don't need any artistic skills. All you need is paper and a pen :) Or a sketchbook and a fountain pen with purple ink, as in my case.
