Lauren Konopacki's Faves

Back in the day. The old pastel doodle from 2012.

still in my own challenge to draw just with two tone colors, so here it is a vegetables hamburger

Whether I make a stamp, pattern or a digital colored illustration, it always starts with a drawing. Preferably made with a 0.05 fineliner.

Sometimes I like to draw things in the reverse (filling in the light areas, leaving the dark areas bare) and then flip them to see how I did. Today's warmups turned out pretty well. My favorite is the kid on the top, whose head & hair echo the strawberry shape. I wish I'd distinguished the girl's legs from the dog's body on the left more, but overall, not bad.

"My life vest is in the boat, and I'm in the water." ~ A blackout poem from a recycled page of Riding with the Hides of Hell, a young adult love story now titled Burnout.

Ink on claybord.

These were drawn by hand without lifting the pen, then colored in Illustrator. Did I get your dog?

"The Tree People" finished line work. Pen = Sailor Pro Gear, EF nib. Pilot Black ink. I love this ink... if only it was waterproof. Works well with markers though.

Prickly pear cactus and cochineal in Ballpoint

I try to keep vulgarity out of my work, but sometimes it just fits. This is one of those times.

It's not shown in this drawing, but seconds later the trees ate all these people.
