Three cigarette rule

Superstition : Cigarettes. The superstition that it is bad luck to light three cigarettes from one match appears to have originated during the Boer War. It was said that a sniper could spot where men might be as the first cigarette was being lit, take aim as the second was ignited and fire with deadly effect at the third. Two lights were enough for any group of men who valued their lives. From "A DICTIONARY OF OMENS AND SUPERSTITIONS" by Philippa Waring

Spring! Chicks! Sunshine!

It’s spring! And I got to hang out with little chicks. They are little fluff balls of serotonin. (Drawing with my non-dominant hand).

All waters are connected.

Many beginnings. Beginning 9. You should know this - all waters are connected. * Starting is easy, it's the middle that is often a muddle. And I won't even mention the endings. Here are some beginnings for children stories that flitter through my head. https://www.instagram.com/p/CO-cGf-BSV1/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Head in the clouds.

Many beginnings. Beginning 12. The voice of the teacher was low and soothing. The air was warm and smelled of butterfly dust and buttered toast. * Starting is easy, it's the middle that is often a muddle. And I won't even mention the endings. The Book.

THE BOOK from Stories for Nighttime and Some for the Day by Ben Loory. "THE WOMAN RETURNS FROM THE STORE WITH AN armload of books. She reads them quickly, one by one, over the course of the next few weeks. But when she opens the last one, the woman frowns in surprise. All the pages in the book are blank. Every single one. The woman takes the book back to the store, but the manager won’t let her return it. Right there on the cover, the manager says, This book has no words and is non-returnable." https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf61DnhO1NL/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Graham Greene

Graham Greene (1904–1991) In 1968, an interviewer asked if he was “a nine-till-five man.” “No,” Greene replied. “Good heavens, I would say I was a nine-till-a-quarter-past-ten man.” - From Daily Rituals: How Artists Work by Mason Currey #dailyrituals #inktober #GrahamGreene #goals @masoncurrey
