These patterns are all made from drawings pulled from my 2017 sketchbook project. I studied fiber arts in grad school and learned how to do repeat patterns - the old fashioned way by cutting and taping paper together... I haven't done any in 25 years - until this month!

An illustrated poem I did as part of my drive to learn Korean. I did this, along with 40 plus other illustrated poems, in my notebook. Here is an English translation of the poem: : High Pine Close to the brook I'm looking at a high pine High pine I want to talk to you Many questions I have How many people have you seen? How many sunny days have you seen? How many rainy days have you seen? How many people's voices have you heard? How many birds' songs have you heard? High pine can you hear me? I had one of these budgie birds when I was growing up. I just recently learned that some people call them budgies. What a funny name! :)

Playing with an unconventional color palette

I try to do a couple of birds a week (obviously don't post them all). This is based on an on-line photo reference drawn with a "soft" Palomino Blackwing pencil and a 4B Koh-I-Noor Hardtmuth Progress woodless pencil. Hence the dark velvety black.

(Gel Fineliner on A5 Paper) "HumanAI" meaning taking the role of a basic AI and drawing a picture from a prompt, but not getting the result intended. From the image, you might be able to guess what was requested ;P

This is a graphite pencil drawing of a hunting hawk somewhat loosely based on a photo. The reference photo is from: Birds of Prey by Paul D. Frost (Paragon Books Ltd 2006) and credited to Martin B Withers/FLPA. I found the book in the Goodwill a couple of month ago and was much inspired by the beautiful photographs.

I always loved half birds half people. I bet they tell the best stories.

I don’t do much on a plane except doodle. And this was no exception. I love to travel, even the long days that go with it.
