Two older works, the first one is definitely one of my favorites. I'm not a big collage person, but I do enjoy browsing random books with patterns and chopping them up.
This is another way of working that I really like. Fine liners and chalk (colour) pencils were predominantly used, with a quick smothering of acrylics for her scarf and coarse posca pen marks for the jumper :). About the subject, Handmaid's Tale was one of those rare books that I read more than once growing up and it stayed with me, hence why I decided to draw Margaret Atwood (not seen the series yet though but I hear good things!). I accidentally had her hand cut out while penning the figure - still working on my scale and composition!
Inktober 2020, Day 13: "Dune". After pondering for a while, whether I should come up with something surprising, I decided to go with what for me is the obvious association, the sci-fi book. I based it on this illustration of a sandworm (https://dune.fandom.com/wiki/Sandworm?file=Dune-sandworm.jpg) by Nathan Rosario. It’s not meant to promote the now postponed new movie, but rather based on the books by Frank Herbert, which I loved as a teenager.
Brushpens and posca markers on coloured A4, this time with an acrylic underpainting (falling back on my painterly ways).

These are watercolor and pencil and ink drawings. They are 5 of 10 images of my hand from a child's board book from which I peeled the laminated pages and exposed the underlying cardboard. I have always struggled with a very large Port Wine Stain birthmark, and periodically make art about that, this one of two books this year.

I saw this just sitting on a shelf in bookstore, snapped a pic and made a parody, I think the cover art looked nice, outside of that, I've never played it. LOL
(2B pencil on an A7 page) This is one of eight images I used in a small booklet I made about "The Little Black Book" and the contacts and comments people would write in such address books. This one is of a pirate. Others include a superhero, an alien, a witch, an angel, and a cat. This is my first upload. I did a quick sketch of Gale and Katniss from the Hunger Games,. I have been doing sketches of passages from books lately and this is one. This is the scene on the day of the reaping. Gale and she are in the woods. Gale is spreading goat cheese and she Katniss is picking berries.

This is an old piece created as part of a series of illustrations for a poetry book entitled "Fruit and Bones" by Elizabeth Zimmers (Yon) back in 2002. Had prints made and just found them again - so I added them to my website ~ which is still a work in progress. Please visit and let me know your thoughts! Next is to add more originals and prints. On t-4 days before the shelter in place order came down, I went to the library and checked out a bunch of books for my son just in case the libraries closed (the libraries closed the next day). Two of them are on tsunamis, which my son is obsessed with. We were reading them this morning, and they put Bali on my mind. This voice kept singing, "jungle, jungle, more jungle!" while I was drawing this.
This is a graphite pencil drawing of a hunting hawk somewhat loosely based on a photo. The reference photo is from: Birds of Prey by Paul D. Frost (Paragon Books Ltd 2006) and credited to Martin B Withers/FLPA. I found the book in the Goodwill a couple of month ago and was much inspired by the beautiful photographs.
I do these in alcohol inks but I have pages and pages of doodles in B/W and Colored Pencil or Markers in my sketch books of these far away things....oteresa
It’s like drawing your own coloring page... Though I do realize there are thousands and thousands of books out there that have already have the drawings completed..

Here I am practicing drawing guys. These are all guys, believe it or not! I sketched Peter from San Domingo, the Medicine Hat Stallion. In the center is Gale from the Hunger Games. This is one of the ways I imagined he looked from the books. And below him is Hart from the Last Holiday Concert. The only guy I drew full-body was the kid on the right side. I didn’t draw him, however, with any specific character in mind, so I guess I just made him up.
