I wanted to see how far I get if I work on a single drawing for a day. Didn't bother myself with perfect shadowing or symmetry though... I'm going to burn through those nibs real fast drawing hair like this. :)
This was originally done with ink and watercolor for the Red Book of Bashkortostan, I really like the look of classic botanical illustrations on brightly colored backgrounds :)

It's also the birthday of Jessica Ángeles, who voiced Teddy Duncan in Good Luck Charlie!, Shoko Komi in Komi-san Can't Communicate, and Panzy in Dragon Ball. Daima in Unikitty, she was the voice of Feebee (as a fun fact, Jessica Ángeles only voiced Unikitty in The Lego Movie, its sequel, and in the LEGO Dimensions game).

Inspired by my recent trip to Korea, which I intentionally went this season to catch the cherry/plum/peach blossoms. As I observed the zigzagness of the tree branches, I see in it the number of roads/mis-roads I had to take, as someone unfamiliar with the land, to get to a good bloom spot. Which kinda reminds me of life. I felt I just had to do this piece.
It's a quick digital recreation of my last gouache painting.
And I don't like it very much.
- I had trouble finding a good brush for painting leaves on the top of the tree.
- There is no magic like in traditional art.
- I didn't enjoy drawing as much as painting with gouache.
- I couldn't peel off the tape when I was done.
I created him for the same universe as Guardian. I have a vague backstory for both in mind, maybe I'll write it down one day. Sketch done in pencil, colored digitally.
