The 2nd Glorious Mystery: The Ascension of Jesus. "So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God" (Mk 16:19). Christ is ascending in glory while blessing his people and holding a scroll which represents fulfillment of the old testament and knowledge, Jesus is the source of all knowledge. This "icon" shows also those who did not actually witness the historical ascenscion (St. Paul) because we are called like them to participate in Christ's acenscion. The group represent the Church focused on Christ. The rainbow is of emerald like the book of revelation describes on His second coming because as the angels say, he will return in the same way. One day on the way home from my Nana's house, I noticed that the sunset showed every color of the rainbow. It reminded me of God's promise to Noah after the great flood. As I began to draw the scene I thought about how that promise just fills the world with His love and mercy. Anyway, that was the idea for the title.

Accident Becomes A Rainbow 11

Inspired by a visit to the Bowes Museum and a great Norman Cornish exhibition

Playing with colored pencils this week. This is very loosely based on a photo....changed hair, eyes, and skin tones to suit my mood. Vintage Conte a Paris Criterium, Prismacolor Verithin, and Tombow Irojiten pencils.

Colored pencil drawing of pomegranates "in progress." Prismacolor and Verithin pencils with some fine lines done with Tombow Irojiten pencils. I like the harder colored pencils for fine detail, but the blending of high wax and oil pencils can't be beat for blending.

This bird is very late for a meeting. Yes, he is wearing a flying bow tie.

Someone asked for a bow. So I gave it a try.

A few years ago, I followed a Mooc about game design et so, I created a character named Will, a little spirit able to change his appearance depending of the pumpkin he possess. So, he could become intangible (the ghost), fly really high (the bat), climb and manipulate object (the cat) and bowl over obstacles (the wolf). So for last Halloween, I decided to redraw them for a fake video game screen. Tadah!
