First ever digital portrait!

A portrait of a pair of characters from my Victoriana tabletop game. An unlikely couple that drum up support for everyone odd and forgotten by the oppressive society they live in. As a red haired Eldren, she is considered cursed and likely to commit dark magics and as a Ratman William finds the residents of London look upon him with derision.

Here’s a piece part of a new project I’m working on - Pop Culture inspired Loteria Cards.

This is Veldt a character I'll be using in DnD he is the son of a high elf and a slavic folkoric creature called a Poludnitsa or lady midday. Unlike other fairies and demons the ladies they love sunlight and heat. They are said to appear as peasant women among plumes of dust clouds carrying a scythe or shears. They are blamed for sun stroke and madness that besets field workers during the hottest of days.

A young woman tossed into a strange world in an attempt to prevent harm to hers, discovers she is connected to it in ways she never imagined. Violet is declared to be a new Archfey Queen and budding goddess of Magic. Having been raised in a world where magic was thought to be an archaic belief, to suddenly being it’s master throughout the eons was needless to say, a terrible shock.

‘Anatomy of a Steelside’ A little something related to a book I’m writing, ‘Nighthammer’ – in the world of my book, various factions wage war via flying battleships known colloquially in-universe as ‘steelsides’. These flying platforms are essentially a science-fantasy version of early/mid 20th century navies in our world. Large propellers inside funnels keep the thing flying, while huge, side-mounted paddles push the steelside, ponderously, through the skies. I’m still figuring out some of the looks and some of the tech, but it always helps to have your own schematics!

This is a cartoon for a humor salon about "addictions".

you step carefully around the purple flowers blooming sporadically across the forest floor. it is very late at night, and you know that you shouldn't be wandering this uncharted planet on your own at this mysterious hour. but something in the trees beckons you subconsciously. as you begin to clamor up steep, untread areas of the landscape, you discard you burdens--a first aid kit, your water, all the suddenly unnecessary contents of your pack. something primitive roars inside of you. your pace increases; you now feel the shear closeness of whatever you are chasing so starkly. your feet and hands slip as you grasp onto the trunks of trees and throw your feet ahead of you with such purpose. at last, you arrive at a clearing--and there she is. and she is like nothing you have ever seen before. she is not human, far from it, but your passion for her claws at every inch of your insides. she is not like any creature that has walked earth or neptune. she is something entirely different, and you have fallen in love with that--with her.

This painting started out as a pumpkin design for the Chads Ford, Pennsylvania, Historical Society’s Great Pumpkin Carve, which I have been participating in for the last eleven years. What inspired me to turn the design into a lasting painting was the message, made the design so relevant. It seems the message, which echoes louder and louder as each day passes; the force of heaven and hell are coming out of the dark and into the daylight. The dove in the painting has always been used in mankind’s history to represent hope, peace, and the symbol of the Holy Spirit. The sun in the Bible is called the greater light that governs the day. So, I used dove and the sun to represent the spiritual force of the heavenly kingdom that is seen and unseen in our world. The bat is known as a creature of the night, thought to be a foul creature that people fear. The moon in the Bible is called the lesser light, which was created to govern the night, to give light on to the earth at night. Nighttime is mentioned in the Bible as when men do their evil deeds. Before man invented methods to light the street and people’s homes, people limited their activity at night due to the absence of light. People with superstitious beliefs believe that demonic creature dwelt in the shadow and would attack them if they stepped out of the light. Another historical fact is that bandits would hide in the dark and rob night travelers. People also worked while it was daylight, then would party, get drunk, and sleep around at night. The Bible mentions that those who reject God’s Messiah do not come into the light because their deeds are evil, and they don’t want them to be exposed. So I chose to use the bat and the moon to symbolize the dark evil kingdom of the fallen angels. 168 The reason why the two creatures converge in the middle is because mankind is the centerpiece that both sides are contesting for. Man kind, in the beginning, was created as a holy creation. But just as Satan decided he was going to exalt himself above His Creator, he went to the rest of the angels to get them to join his army to dethrone God. When Satan and his army lost the battle for the heavenly kingdom, He turned his eyes to conquering the earthly realm by tempting mankind, who God had gifted the deed of the earth to. The devil possesses a snake to hold a conversation with man to deceive them into distrusting God and leading them to disobey the commandment from God not to eat from The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. This is how man became the middle battleground. God’s force is battling to restore mankind back to fellowship with God and regain their citizenship in God’s eternal kingdom. Satan and his army of fallen angels work on deceiving, afflicting, and destroying mankind in hope of taking as many as his army can drag to the eternal lake of fire, where God will throw everyone who has denounced Him as their God and king. Dieu Thuyen is one of the most talented beauties I have ever known, so in the photo I added an oval lute and used pink as the main color for the embellishment. giving Dieu Thuyen a proud beauty. I played with some different rendering techniques in my digital lineart/with some diagonal shading in the shadows in addition to my usual cell shading. I used the same colour as the hair /skin/ clothing in for my lineart on a 'multiply' layer then duplicated that layer and added a blur/reduced the opacity for its copy to soften the look of the lines.
