Squirtle: no more no less. Actually more about it, my lighting is bad, aka the yellow tint. Also color picking is really hard, and i might have to do a bit more outlining to the piece to make it look cohesive. But overall the composition is balanced i think, even if i slacked off with the execution a bit towards the end

It’s been over 20 years since I was an artist and animator in the video game industry and did art on the computer. I’ve been re-learning digital art since I’ve been stuck in doors during this Covid pandemic, and this is a charcoal piece I just did in Procreate. A moody, very busy day. I did an ink wash of the beach today, but I'm posting the last piece I drew in the studio instead. I miss the studio and friends there.
Some of my friends got drunk and came up with this idea that my best friend was a god. For whatever reason they decided Hopsin and Billie are the other two major gods. So this is part of a joke we have been pulling on him. Could have worked harder editing it but it’s all for fun. Thought I’d share it.
Inspired by the Neo-Classical period, I pushed myself as an artist to portray subjects in an idealistic fashion combining drama and artificial lighting. The subject is my sister who modelled as a reference, enabling me to control the shadowy effect over her face. The dim lighting and dark background resonated with the period style, focusing on the facial parts that are visible. The end result looks like she is emerging from the darkness. A somber atmosphere is illustrated through visual expression.
Adding the fast drying oil on the brushes improved the blending of the colours on the canvas which was especially useful when it came to applying strokes on the face smoothly. Visit https://www.martiaposts.com for more
