The Mexican wolf (Canis lupus baileyi) is a subspecies of gray wolf once native to southeastern Arizona, southern New Mexico, western Texas and northern Mexico. Its ancestors were likely the first gray wolves to enter North America after the extinction of the Beringian wolf, as indicated by its southern range and basal physical and genetic characteristics. These illustrations are part of an ongoing series on anxiety I started in early April 2018, as part of #The100DayProject. This project is an extension of the fear illustrations I've been creating since 2012 (www.fear-illustrated).
As usual I struggled to get a true likeness, but that notwithstanding, I was still pleased with the result.
