Pencil sketch for a cover for a book I'm working on.

A fun drawing to do. I usually do a lot of crosshatching, but for this one I went for the smoothness, better to capture the light, I suppose, where crosshatching can be a little distracting. Or look like hair! As some have said.

A wonderful model I had two years ago brought the most amazing dresses. This was rather a plain one, but very elegant.

My friend Erinn is a great model. Brave and dynamic.

Fun with pencil. I use a 9H pencil to carve images into the paper and then a B pencil to draw over them, giving the drawings the feeling of textures.

This was inspired by driftwood and a bit of a fantasy landscape Idea.

A portrait of a friend.

Steve is a musician and head sound engineer for Microsoft in Seattle. I drew him after visiting, trying to capture a bit o the otherworldliness of his music.

Tim was a great model. He started shy and then became emboldened when the women in the class wanted him to return soon.

Instead of a sketchbook I draw - doodle - on a table top sized sheet of 100lb paper. This allows me to cross-pollinate visual ideas more easily.

Part of a huge doodle. Started as a doodle while I talked to a friend on the phone. She was one of those non-stop-don't-interupt-me talkers. I got hours of work done while on the phone. It ended up being purchased by our local public gallery for $4,000 bucks. Not bad! And I may use it in a future children's book.

This is a section of a very large drawing. The entire drawing was a massive doodle that could be used in a children's book one day.

This is a drawing for a poetry book. Sometimes I do the drawing first and then write the poetry.
