I was on break at work and was inspired by the song playing on the radio “Chandelier “ by the multi- talented Artist, Sia. Her powerful voice is one which usually gets my attention wherever I happen to be. Enjoy

Here's an ink illustration from my sketchbook. The only thing more terrifying than dying of the plague might be encountering a plague doctor. The type at the bottom says "A Black Sun Revolves Around You." It's been distorted and abstracted, but it's derived from letterforms.

Doodling my faces, this time on a piece of wood from a pallet. Re-cycling! Used watercolors and colored pencils, Carved out some spots to add dimension.

I had an idea to create illustrations of fruit set in autumn 2017, and have been working on the realization of this idea throughout February/March 2018. In all, I have created 11 illustrations: apple, apricot, banana, cherry, grape, lemon, orange, pear, plum, tomato, watermelon. Using rapidograph to form the shape, I am coloring my works digitally in Adobe Photoshop. Here is an apricot!

Messing around with lettering. I really should go eat something.

The first page in my Moleskine sketchbook. Lettering, doodle flowers and a vibrant green background. Coloured in with brush marker pens.

All the elements were drawn by hand, with Prismacolor markers used to create what would be vastly contrasting tones after b/w conversion. The composition and b/w conversion were done in Adobe Photoshop. © 2016 Joe Blend. All rights reserved

This is a black-and-white revision of an illustration I made (hand-drawn) for an American Red Cross e-newsletter years ago. The original was in color; however, considering my current work is predominantly black and white, I thought it appropriate to update the illustration for my portfolio. © 2007-2018 Joe Blend. From something I wrote in 2016.

A portrait of my first child! My little muse. Expecting her baby sister in a month or so :) Can't wait for to try my hand at sketching her soon!
