Feelings and Sumo Wrestlers
1/2

This drawing looks a bit like one of those "how are you feeling?" hospital charts. It starts out okay ("smiling cat", "drunk pirate"), and descends into full Lovecraftian Horror. I was driving toward a local town known for its unpleasant yokels, which probably explains the progression. Today, for the record, I'm 75% Apathetic Lumberjack, 5% glassy-eyed cat, and 20% Vampire Waluigi.

They Say You Can See Someones Soul By Looking At Their Eyes

I wanted the eyes to look real and the rest of her to be more abstract. Made of shapes, patterns and colors. Inner shapes and forms that we see if we look at a person closely.

Teacup Bear Adventures

This is a bear who's also a bit of a bear. It's a very, very clever illustration, or so I felt at the time. Please let me have this one.

THE MAGIC OF ART

All the elements were drawn by hand, with Prismacolor markers used to create what would be vastly contrasting tones after b/w conversion. The composition and b/w conversion were done in Adobe Photoshop. © 2016 Joe Blend. All rights reserved

A Snapshot from Coast to Coast

This is a black-and-white revision of an illustration I made (hand-drawn) for an American Red Cross e-newsletter years ago. The original was in color; however, considering my current work is predominantly black and white, I thought it appropriate to update the illustration for my portfolio. © 2007-2018 Joe Blend.
