New class, Sketching for Animators and illustrators, started last Saturday. I do a lot of trace overlays on students existing work. This was just adding more believable shapes and changing the pose slightly. I really like this class since we get to cover
This sketchbook spread features a stylized pattern of colorful poppy flowers. The garden of flowers includes leaves of green, yellow and peach. The flowers are yellow with blue stems. The drawing as a whole has a whimsical and playful feel with a bright color scheme, polka dots and organic squiggle shapes, and blobs of seemingly random colors. Went to see Billy Strings Band live in Philly. Music inspires me so much. Although you might not like bluegrass, it's worth checking these guys out. Great jamming, musicians and show. Watercolor on Aquarelle. This piece is incredibly close to my heart. It closely resembles the emotions that I was going through when I painted it. I tried to replicate the numbness and the restlessness that I felt in the eyes.
(2B pencil on a 198mm x 124mm book title page) Profanity is a common form of blasphemy. Here, I've used it in a similar way as you'd see fonts used in the old Letraset catalogues. Plus, nobody says "fadge" anymore, and that used to be a good swear-word.

"Robot Manflower." 8x8 ink and watercolor. New discovery: Noodlers 54th Massachusetts Ink (watered down) works incredibly well for painting shadows/value before the watercolor. Watercolor does not disturb that ink! Drawn with a Pilot Custom 743 EF with De Atramentis Document Ink Black.
Hope this doesn't get me kicked out as a "non-doodle" but have been having a lot of fun with this little project. Tools include cardboard, a sharpie and a knife. More to come!
A quick sketch of a man holding a cup of coffee. This was drawn from a reference photo. Lately I've been practicing portraits. Trying to limit myself to 20 mins or so and just draw the basic form as best I can. Otherwise I'll fiddle with the details and spend hours trying to adjust things. Sketching in ink helps also since I can't erase. Need to get more comfortable sketching faster, but I like the way this turned out.
I will continue doing more of these food/object characters considering I have a few more ideas left.This is only a random design I thought of not really a oc yet.Honestly I don't really like cute character designs despite having only 5 or 7 but this gets a pass from me since it's a random design I made up.
