English: Appropriationism or Remake is a simple concept. Indeed, it is enough to take again the work of an artist and to sign the new production of his name. It is not a question of copying the work as a forger could do. It is not a question of plagiarizing the work. As far as I'm concerned, I use the famous work of a recognized artist. By reusing a pre-existing and famous original work, condition sine qua non, I propose to pay tribute. It is by no means a lack of inspiration especially when we now know that: "art is born of art and not of nature": Ernst Gombrich. In this series, I wanted to revisit famous works using my graphic technique of praising the approximation highlighting the problem of failure and vaporous memory.

Michel Onfray

Digital painting on canvas of "Michel Onfray" in the manner of the praise of the approximation of the exhibition. This graphic and stylistic style is borrowed from the concept elaborated in the Praise of Approximation ": a painting to be reconstructed using the structure to which the perceptions are subordinated, highlighting the perceptual disturbances of perception. whose memory has been recorded in the brain of each individual.

Hercules
1/4

Another class assignment. We had to draw the Farnese Hercules' gratuitously muscled torso 4 times from different angles and with different light sources. We had thirty minute time limits. I thought I was going to lose my mind. Medium: Charcoal on newsprint. Time: 30 minutes x 4.

Enigma - Detective for Hire

A very random doodle I did for warm-up while working on commissions. I don't think it helped much other than working with little line work and stark lighting.

(B grade pencil on 125mm x 75mm notecard) Another dreamscape image. With this one, I decided to pick out points of detail whilst having the rest shaded in the background. It works well, even with minimum elements highlighted.

Progression 5 of 5. Final Drawing. Overall, satisfied with how this came out. I should have done a better job of the hard lines, especially around the skin. Also, my vision for the background didn't come out quite as planned, but I didn't want it to draw the eye more than the main focus, so I left it lighter and vague. There were a lot of Nike symbols in this piece!

Waiting.

Well, I'm joining the Tumblr exodus, which is unfortunate because that's where I post all my sketches! Oh well. Hello DoodleAddicts! This was half of a recent assignment for a figure drawing 2 class, to draw our model in high key lighting. :) Time: 30 mins x 2 Medium: Charcoal on Paper

Process work from Tide Day
1/2

From Sketch to Final Water Coloring Stages, this is a spread from Tide Day! A lot goes into making a good composition, taking into account the center of the image where the binding is, and how to play with size and negative space. One of my favorite things to do is explore contrasting expressions between characters and highlight their emotions through physical stances and expressions. This was a tough challenge with the lack of limbs and the watery context, but Pearl's stubbornness and attitude shines through!

Witches, Vampires, Cats
1/3

The Ford Taurus was the most boring car I could think of. This selection of doodles are all just ink on paper, applied with a brush. The black circle behind the cats was Sharpie. I had a design back there, decided I super-hated-it, and then screwed the whole thing up. Ah well. The cats are still okay.
