It was International Friendship Day yesterday, so I made a little something. Pokémon is a huge part of my childhood, and I'd like to draw something for it. The 2nd Glorious Mystery: The Ascension of Jesus. "So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God" (Mk 16:19). Christ is ascending in glory while blessing his people and holding a scroll which represents fulfillment of the old testament and knowledge, Jesus is the source of all knowledge. This "icon" shows also those who did not actually witness the historical ascenscion (St. Paul) because we are called like them to participate in Christ's acenscion. The group represent the Church focused on Christ. The rainbow is of emerald like the book of revelation describes on His second coming because as the angels say, he will return in the same way. My very first complete Watercolor painting: The Holy Spirit! in humanoid form instead of dove form. Of course God is love so I have his heart and the 3 flames are 3 because the Trinity. The Holy Spirit can take any form He wants and so I've always thought he also has like a spiritual humanoid form, I mean he can't just always be in dove form. :P I tried watercoloring in the past but never seriously, I don't even remember what I tried but I never finished anything, I just remember how frustrating the coloring process was and had many bleed throughs. That's why I've always prefered Acrylic. This time I gave it a try though after watching some videos with tips n tricks. I painted it on some small postcard sized watercolor paper. I was wondering what my young grandson Dean might look like when he was much older and this is what I came up with.

A little finger doodle on my phone ended up creating this guy in a quick draw. I kind of like this style. I might keep with it for while.

The First Glorious Mystery: The Resurrection! While Jesus' body was entombed he descended into the Underworld in order to free and bring to heaven all the righteous that died before Him. Jesus is victorious over death, Robed in Heavenly white, He is surrounded by a mandorla of star-studded light, representing the Glory of God. Christ is shown dramatically pulling Adam, the first man, and Eve from the tomb. Jesus does the work, that is why He is pulling Adam from the tomb by the wrist, and not the hand. Surrounding him are Holy Men and Women of the Old testament and who died before. St. Joseph is also there almost saying to the others "That's my boy! :)" Haha. John the Baptist and King David are present. On the other side we have little Abel next to Eve, Judith with her sword, Esther in royal purple and Ruth. I'd like to include even more but I'll need a much bigger piece of paper or canvas. :P This Icon is also called the "Harrowing of Hades" “Harrow” comes from the Old English word used to describe the ploughing of a field with a cultivator which is dragged roughly over the ground, churning it up. In the icon, Christ is shown with the instrument of His death plunged deep into Hades. Beneath Christ’s feet – which still carry the marks of His crucifixion – lay the gates of Hades, smashed wide open in the shape of the Cross. Christ has trampled death by death. Within the dark underworld are scattered broken chains and locks; Hades is not destroyed – it is still there – but its power to bind people is gone. There are no chains, no locked doors. Christ is always there to lift us from the darkness of this world. I drew this on my iPad. I drew this for someone on another art site. I loved drawing her character. Her style and the bunny ears are totally my taste in things I like to draw.

Here's a doodle of my house. (I feel like this looks a bit different than what I usually do.) This is an homage to my 100+ year old house that has had many generations live in it. The bottom section is overly curved because, in reality, the center of the house is sinking and everything rolls towards the middle. A lot of character for a little house.

Here's something I drew in 10 minutes this morning. I was on call waiting for work to start and my anxiety went through the roof. Not sure why, but it did. My friend asked me if this sketch was a sound, what would it be? I said static. That's what things feel like most of the time: all-consuming, loud, abrasive static.

So we like to crumple up paper throw it down on the sketch pad and draw something in the shape of the shadow that appears. It’s really fun and always something new. This guy is the result of one crumpled up piece.

I always have a more muted color palette in mind and then the painting ends up being very colorful. Trying out Arteza gouache. I really like it :)

Concept idea for an upcoming canvas, but I’m not sure if it’ll stay like this. My days have had me wondering why certain problems exist, how we could solve them and how we can prevent in the future. This particular work will be focused on racism, and I’m very excited about the amount of research I want to do. I’ve been very angry and feeling powerless lately about this subject, and I’ll hope I’ll feel more useful after this project

He dies with the honor of his ancestors, among the trees, not strung up on a dead one like his brothers or forced to work like a slave as his sisters. He dies a proud alf. His are the kin of the trees. The others that live on in the cities are traitors! Their blood is poison now. He takes as many knights as he can. Tonight the Elvin folks perish.And so ... Goodknight

Ball point pen over wash. Being a mild-mannered Aries (married to a mild-mannered Aries), I didn't want the usual warlike ram, rather a friendly guy with nice "shofar" horns!

Felt like some gouache this evening - been a while. Painty sketch of my Bubb.

Hi! This is another drawing of the character, I like how soft the colors are. I used Copic markers, Microns, white gel pens,highlighters and Ohuhu markers. I really love the finished piece.

I think I kind of cheated by adding a bit of yellow and gray, but I do like how it turned out. I usually don't make many pieces like this, and there wasn't much of a plan going into this. It was a bit refreshing to do this.

Digital illustration that took 14 hours to complete. I wanted to create almost an illusion type piece. I like showing diversity in my art so more to come!!!

First Sorrowful Mystery: The agony in the Garden. The Angel is dressed in black because it is fortelling his death and the chalice is like a bitter black liquid. Jesus suffered such agony in the Garden of Gethsenami that it would have been enough to save us all but he wanted to give an abundance of graces and spiritual gifts for our salvation by suffering for us all possible pains we could experience. So that even pain can bear fruit in our lives. "Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, 'Sit here, while I go yonder and pray.' And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, 'My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.' And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, 'My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will"' (Mt 26:36-39). "Such a battle and such a victory become possible only through prayer. It is by his prayer that Jesus vanquishes the Tempter, both at the outset of his public mission and in the ultimate struggle of his agony" (CCC, 2849). Our Father, 10 Hail Marys (contemplating the mystery), Glory be to the Father.

The challenging thing with just using pen is that I can't paint over a mistake. I usually redo a face more than once. I didn't mean to make their face so stoic, it makes them look like a statue.
