Niter (art trade)

My half of the art trade with OptimisticJerk (https://www.deviantart.com/optimisticjerk). The trade was to draw a monster as made up by your counterpart without seeing a reference image, based only on the description. Here is her half (which is awesome): www.deviantart.com/optimisticj… For mine, I had to draw a monster called a "niter" based off of his description: "Niters communicate in whispers. Nocturnal. Shy away from light. They’re black and oily and emanate a bluish glow. Large, looming 6 foot shadow things with massive hind legs, clawed for climbing trees and they have ‘maws’ instead of arms, claw-like appendages they stab people with and only one gaping blue eye. Their mouths open up and they swallow their victims whole." What's funny is that I didn't see the fact that they emanate a bluish glow until now. So, the glow from the eye is purely by coincidence. Figuring out the hind legs of this creature was difficult, and so I sought reference images, and of all things, the koala turned out to be a pretty good reference. For a while, there, it was looking like Carnage from Spiderman, but I toned down the reddish-hue a bit. The intention was to give the appearance of motor oil. So, now to find out how badly I failed at drawing this... This art trade was fun, though, and I would do a similar one, again. But I am le tired.

can someone please tell me how to rotate the image? The piece was oil pastels, a woman in water, sinking into it. I guess i was just really overwhelmed.

Rudeus character when angry.

This character is well known and has appeared many times in various comics and cartoons. The character I created has a face that contains a lot of sadness and is sometimes very ghostly. Many compliments to the author for creating this mysterious and magical character. ------------------------------ The work was created by Luu Hoang Phuc and posted on December 3, 2012 and the work was exclusively posted on two platforms Facebook and Doodle Addicts. Shades of Pink > Grimes cover art
1/3

Water color pencils in a monotone piece of shades of pink. This was pretty hard considering I didn't have any magenta or hot pink hues. I had to create them and it was a pleasure. This was inspired from one of the artist's Grimes cover art.

Remake : Georges - Mathieu : Rouge

English: Appropriationism or Remake is a simple concept. Indeed, it is enough to take again the work of an artist and to sign the new production of his name. It is not a question of copying the work as a forger could do. It is not a question of plagiarizing the work. As far as I'm concerned, I use the famous work of a recognized artist. By reusing a pre-existing and famous original work, condition sine qua non, I propose to pay tribute. It is by no means a lack of inspiration especially when we now know that: "art is born of art and not of nature": Ernst Gombrich. In this series, I wanted to revisit famous works using my graphic technique of praising the approximation highlighting the problem of failure and vaporous memory

Cosmic Expression 3

I’m fascinated in how something may make you feel. For instance, I’m deeply moved by images of outer space from the Hubble space telescope, but I do not try to recreate those photographs in my work. What does not exist in those photos, is how they may make us feel. This is why you won’t see any “realism” in my art. When we send astronauts to space, they can discuss factually what is happening, but what truly moves human beings is when astronauts describe how they felt while they were there. So, I choose to express how I feel, as opposed to illustrate what I see.

Chari - Loosely based on.
1/5

Chari is one of my favorite folks to draw! I have been drawing a lot more while out and about. Using the cheap graph composition notebook, non-expensive art supplies and going to a coffee shop to draw people. Sometimes I can get a likeness with my mind, eyes, hands and draftsmanship and other times it is the "many moods of my subject." :-) This is a place (in my book) where I can learn from my perceived fails. ****The images are sideways! I know this. I do not know how to make them portrait orientation. They started out as portrait-scaped orientation and now they are landscape. Well..... Okay then. The figurative landscape. Hahaahhha! Cry. I even tried the visa versa. Nope. They want to be on their sides.

White Bird Ido

Have been struggling lately with external commitments and distractions, resulting in some serious imbalances in energy and focus. Despite all that, this kept bugging me from the corner of my awareness as a fixation. And when I finally settled down enough to be able to grab the pencil, this came out. Honestly, I'm pretty nervous about presenting this image. Being a symbolic image deeply steeped in personal spiritual depths, it is still evolving over time. It is a really difficult image to present, due to personal insecurities. This has come a long way since the last older picture already presented within this archieve. That is all I can say for this, giving room for external interpretation

Scribbles: Ido

What happens when I keep trying to capture that spiritual image seen from the mind's eye? A shapeshifting abstract that is anchored merely by symbols. Sometimes I really just want to convey a consistent image that the world can see, which is really, really hard...

Color Practice

So this was merely a color practice with different brushes. I used marker, airbrush and paint. The hair is paint, the face, shirt, bow tie and shading was all used with marker. The airbrush was for the shiny effect on his bow tie. I have no rhyme or reason for this image, it was just something I created in my sketch book. I just needed to draw something to play around with.
